Greetings art educators! We hope you had a wonderful March and are rejuvenated for the remainder of the year. Most of us enjoyed a few days off for Spring Break and hopefully returned to our class rooms and studios prepared to face the numerous tasks upon us as we approach the final stretch of the 2017 school year. The last few months of the school year are usually packed with art shows, events, and of course state testing. As we enter what could be the busiest time of year for many art educators, we have several upcoming programs we want to be sure you have on your calendar! Youth Art Month was fantastic and we enjoyed your updates, happenings, and beautiful pictures. We are comprising a Youth Art Month digital scrapbook which we submit to The Council for Art Education to compete at the national level for awards. It is not too late to be a part of the Florida YAM digital portfolio. Please send a picture, description and or media article about YAM events and it will be included in Florida's YAM national report and featured on FAEA Social Media. Label your email with the title 'YAM Event' and email it to nicole.faea@gmail.com. As we enter the month of April, the 2017 K-12 Student Art Assessment and Virtual Exhibition deadline is near, with just a few days left to enter. Submissions will be accepted through April 10, 2017. Be sure to enter your students' work so they can be recognized for their amazing talent and have the opportunity to be selected for the FAEA Student Virtual Exhibition. Be sure to check out the new prize structure for 2017 including a cash prize for the overall winning student and classroom art supplies for the overall winning teacher. Thanks to Sargent Art for their sponsorship and prizes! Now is the time to submit
nominations for the 2018 Board of Directors! FAEA is seeking dedicated members with exceptional leadership skills who are willing to step into this respected role.If you love everything FAEA has to offer and enjoy making a difference in art education, this is the perfect opportunity! Check out the details below and at faea.org.
If you, or a colleague would like to nominate a leader for the Board of Directors for 2018-2019, please complete the nomination form and submit by April 30. The Florida Art Education Association and specifically the Professional Development Committee have put together an amazing array of workshops for this spring and summer. Later this month, join us for the St. Augustine Mini-Conference. This is sure to be a wonderful professional development especially for the areas of Florida heavily impacted by Hurricane Matthew and unable to attend last year's conference. Check out the details below. We hope to see you there! In addition to the upcoming mini conference, the FAEA Professional Development Committee is also preparing for the 65th FAEA Conference October 19-22, 2017 in St. Petersburg, Florida. FAEA is currently accepting conference proposals and we hope you will consider sharing your expertise with fellow art educators. FAEA conference session proposals are due May 1, 2017. Thank you for being an active member of the Florida Art Education Association and participating in our ongoing programs. We appreciate your support and are grateful for the abundance of incredible art educators in our state. If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or need assistance, please reach out to
info@faea.org
. We look forward to seeing each of you at an upcoming event.
