At the Annual Meeting, Samuel and I announced our retirement plans. Samuel will retire at the end of this year (2021), and I will retire at the end of August 2022. My last official function will be our 150th Anniversary Celebration at First Baptist Church, Springfield, on Sunday, August 28th.
One of the great blessings of my work at GCBA has been the privilege of working alongside Samuel González. He is a great man of God and a tireless servant for the gospel. I will have more to say about Samuel in future Connection articles. Following are three items regarding Samuel and his retirement I want to mention now.
First, you will notice in the information about our Pastor/Staff and Spouse Christmas Banquet that we are going to honor Samuel and celebrate his years of ministry at GCBA during this event. Hope you can come celebrate with us! It will be a fun evening.
Second, to honor and thank Samuel, we are receiving a love offering we will present to him the night of the Banquet. We are encouraging churches and friends to share in this special way of thanking Samuel for his great service at GCBA. Please send your gifts to the Association earmarked for Samuel.
Third, even though Samuel will not be employed by the Association after January 1, he has agreed to continue to lead our partnership (and mission trips) to Guadalajara. This is wonderful news!!
I am so thankful God honored me with the joy of serving Greene County Baptists all these many years. I will have a lot more to say about that in the future. Below are listed the names and info of our DOM Search Team. Please be praying for these leaders as they begin the process of seeking God’s next man to lead GCBA.
Remember, The Key Is To Be!! Love you.
The DOM Search Team is made up of the Moderator, Vice-Moderator and the Personnel Team. Below are listed the team members and their churches. The Chairman of the Personnel Team is the Chairman of the Search Team.

Keeping In Touch
We are using Constant Contact to send emails to Pastors, ministerial staff and churches. In addition, the online edition of The Connection is being sent through Constant Contact.
If you would like to receive the newsletter online, email and put newsletter subscription in the subject line. Provide us with your mailing address so we can update our records.
Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
