Only the Lord Could Orchestrate Something this Wonderful!

Jeffery Stoneking grew up on the west side of Springfield just a few blocks away from Golden Avenue Baptist Church. While growing up, he had very little to do with church or the Lord.

In 2004 and 2005 Jeffery was arrested for two felony counts related to selling drugs. At eighteen years old, he appeared in drug court before Judge Peggy Davis. She tried to help him, but due to his own failures and sins, he was sent to prison.

In November 2015, following Jeffery’s release from prison, he was gloriously saved. He began to grow and serve the Lord through Freeway’s ministry. He subsequently felt a call to ministry and surrendered to the Lord’s call. In October 2019, Jeffery became pastor of Golden Avenue Baptist Church (in his old neighborhood!).

Now for the rest of the story. A few weeks ago, Jeffery had the blessing of baptizing the grandson of Judge Peggy Davis. Judge Davis came to Golden Avenue to witness her grandson’s baptism. The picture below is Pastor Jeffery and Judge Davis standing together. In sharing this great blessing, Jeffery said, “I am so grateful to be able to preach to the Judge who tried to help me all those years earlier in drug court. Only God can do this!!”
Golden Avenue is now the site for a new Freeway location. It is Freeway West. They serve a meal and conduct worship services each Friday evening. They are in need of people to help as well as finances for food. For more info, contact Jeffery at 417-824-8249 or email [email protected]
