Adult Formation for January & February 2020: Episcopal 101
On Sunday, January 5, there will be no "formal" Adult Formation offering, but we invite you to gather for a time of fellowship in the Commons to catch-up with fellow St. Bede's members and share about your holiday adventures.
Then, on Sunday, January 12, Adult Sunday School will resume with Episcopal 101 - a class for those who want to know more about the Episcopal Church. This class will be taught by Chad Vaughn and Colin Brown (with, perhaps, some other voices joining is as well) and is for newcomers and long-timers alike. All are welcome. This class will also be appropriate for anyone who wishes to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church from another Christian tradition when Bishop Wright visits us in March 2020. Episcopal 101 will meet in Room M-110.
Blessed To Be A Blessing Pledge Campaign

Bake Sale Thanks
Cakes, cookies, candy, oh my! Just some of the goodies at the Advent Bake Sale. Casseroles and pesto was a great addition to all the goodies. We netted approximately $1107.51. The proceeds will be used to refurbish the Liturgical Arts with new plumbing, new sink, and new counters in support of the Flower Guild.
The Sisters wish to thank everyone that participated in the Advent Bake Sale...bakers and shoppers.
All Women of St. Bede's Invited to View the Film "Traces of the Trade"
Sunday, January 12 from 2:00-4:00pm
All women of St. Bede's and the wider community are invited to attend a gathering in room M-110 at St. Bede's on Sunday, January 12th from 2-4 PM to
watch the film "Traces of the Trade," an exploration of one family's story as they face their family's early
involvement in slavery and its repercussions. Following the film, we will have a guided conversation to share where we heard and saw reconciliation, healing, and God's invitations and grace (just as we do in Popcorn Theology gatherings). We'll also share our own stories, as anyone feels so moved.
A time of intercessory prayer will conclude the gathering.
The local chapter of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross (SCHC) is hosting this gathering. SCHC is a national Episcopal women's prayer group. Lynnsay Buehler is currently the chaplain of the local group.
Readers and Chalice Servers Needed on Sunday Mornings
I am reaching out to the Body because we need mouths and hands. Mouths to read the lessons and prayers and Hands to bear the chalice.
We have teams that take turns each Sunday of the month - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Sundays. The team leader coordinates who does what each Sunday. Of course, there is flexibility if you are out of town or something comes up during your team's week. If you join a team, you do not have to read
and chalice. If your preference is to do only one of these things, we are happy to have you join us.
We especially need readers for our 8:15 services.
This is an important and rewarding ministry. I believe it is especially important for us to hear God's words spoken through many the voices of our Body. Plus, reading the lessons and prayers is great experience if you want to work on your public speaking skills. You don't have to write anything, just read! We have young and old readers, so I encourage anyone who is interested to prayerfully consider this ministry, especially our Youth Group.
Volunteers needed at the NET Food Pantry January 2020
St. Bede's is responsible for staffing the Northlake-Embry Hills-Tucker Food Pantry during the month of January. The Pantry is open 10:30am - 2:00pm, Mon, Wed, & Fri. Staff should arrive by 10:20am and plan to stay until 2:15pm, if needed. If you have worked previously, or if you have never worked but would like to volunteer, please call or email Nancy Ward at 678-592-2276 (email@example.com).
Mostly Mysteries Book Group - January 20
The next meeting will be on Monday, January 20 at 7 pm.
The meeting will be at Fran's house:
1516 Regency Walk Drive
The book for January was selected by Jennie and is
A Great Deliverance by Elizabeth George.
This is Inspector Lynley Book One.
Elizabeth George tells a wonderful tale; crafted as carefully as an elaborate quilt. She deserves the accolades she's received, including the Anthony & Agatha Best First Novel in the USA for A Great Deliverance.
If You Need a Name Tag ...
Please let the Parish Office know if you need a name tag. The procedure is simple. Just put a note on the Parish Administrator's desk in the office and by the next Sunday your new name tag will be on the "spinners".
The jelly supply and demand has balanced out, so we're back in the business of collecting jelly donations. There is a jelly basket in the Connection Center for your jars. Or you may write a check to St. Bede's and designate it for NET jelly. Lewis and Sally Cook faithfully deliver your contributions or purchase jelly as needed. Thanks to all for your generosity.
Welcome to St. Bede's Episcopal Church
Welcome! We're delighted to have you here. You are invited to visit our Commons Area for coffee and conversation after the 10:00 service. There you will find parish life materials to the right as you exit from the church.
Here are some other ways to get better acquainted with St. Bede's.
- Visit stbedes.org and sign up for the church's weekly email and learn more about the active life of St. Bede's. Also visit St. Bede's Facebook page, another way to check out the activities.
- Fill out a visitor information form located on the Visitor's table located in the commons area. Let us know more about you so we can be in touch.
- Contact the church office, 770-939-9797, to be placed on the mailing list or learn more about the life of St. Bede's.
The Invite Welcome Connect Committee has dinners for our newcomers with some of our "seasoned" parishioners. These dinners help you connect with the activities and life of St. Bede's. If you are a newcomer watch for an invitation to an "Invite Welcome Connect" dinner.

ReviveATL: Love in Action
an Episcopal Church Revival
January 22, 2020 from 6-8 p.m.
Atlanta University Center
This past year, Presiding Bishop Curry has urged people of faith to follow The Way of Love, fostering a community of people who follow Jesus by forming loving, liberating and life-giving relationships with God, their neighbors, and the environment.
This Way of Love is reflected by the Diocese of Atlanta's purpose statement:
We challenge ourselves and the world to love like Jesus as we worship joyfully, serve compassionately, and grow spiritually.
What does Love in Action look like in a world that is hurting? ReviveATL invites us to live out our call to serve Jesus and love as he loves the unwelcome, the disenfranchised, the lost, and the found.
All are welcome. Come experience Love in Action.
Details: Prior to the Revival, food trucks will be available from 4:30-6 p.m. to allow for early arrivals. A more detailed program will be released this fall.
Early bird registration before Nov. 1 includes guaranteed seating. Registration will be opening soon.
