Welcome to June!
Daylight is with us longer. It's time for cookouts, weekend getaways, graduation parties, little league, fishing, boating, trips to the east end, hiking, biking and more! This is the time we get out and truly enjoy the wonders we have right here on Long Island! With all of the activities and excitement, many feel that business tends to slow down right about now. Although this may be true with certain professions and/or accounts, this is also the IDEAL TIME to cultivate NEW connections and business!
According to the U.S. Small Business Association, summer time is the idea time to brush up on your networking. With many people taking time off during this season, this just means there's more WOOP's (Windows Of Opportunity) to engage outside of the office and cultivate those relationships. Better yet, why not engage with the Chamber and see about setting up an event at your place of business? What a great way to showcase what you offer!
The Melville Chamber offers many outlets for your networking and business development needs. Are you familiar with the myriad of committees at your fingertips? Here are a few of many:
The Young Professionals Group (YPG) welcomes its newest chair, Meredith McCaslin of The Knox School. Are you a 20 or 30 something individual? Do you have 20 and/or 30 somethings working for you? Get them together with other YPG's and allow them to build long lasting relationships that will feed your business for years to come!
Have you heard about our W.O.M.E.N.? It's the Women Of Melville Empowerment Network. This group works to inspire, empower and recognize women of the Melville Chamber.
New to business or a seasoned pro? Our Business Resource Committee provides members with resources, education and opportunities to help you achieve your company's goals.
Let's not sit back and accept a slow season. Be a "do-er", get involved and make this historically slow summer time the catalyst to a busy and successful year!
Best regards,
