President's Message

Cassandra Pye
The year 2016 has been an incredible one for California Women Lead! What an honor it has been to serve with an exceptional Board of leaders with great passion and vision for women's leadership in California.  While the national election results were disappointing for some and while the number of women in elected office in California actually  dropped , we've decided that we're going to look forward and not behind us.

A Message From Executive Director, Rachel Michelin

It is hard to believe we are at the end of 2016!  This was certainly a year of up and downs for women in politics both in California and nationally.  We saw the nomination of the first woman for President of the United States from a major political party and then witnessed the number of women serving in elected office in California decrease.  As frustrating as the election cycle may have been, I am choosing to look at it as an opportunity for women to find their different paths for leadership - personally, professionally and politically and the role California Women Lead will have in helping them find it.

California Women Lead's sole mission is to help women - on both sides of the aisle - on their journey to elected or appointed office. We have successfully done this for over 40 years. We do this by supporting women professionally and personally, while educating participants about key policy issues facing the state through thoughtful and careful examination. We are excited to announce our newest program: The LEADership Academy. Four carefully curated modules have been created that focus on the areas of Professional, Personal, Political and Policy. Kicking off in Anaheim in March 2017, over the next two years, LEADership Academy sessions will be offered throughout the state that highlight one program from each module in an accelerated one-day environment. Our next national women's conference is scheduled for April 2018 at The Disneyland Resort, and will feature all four, full-module training programs. Applications are now being accepted for the various sessions, and you can attend as many sessions as you like.   Apply online, learn about the modules, the programs, pricing and more by CLICKING HERE.

2016 Women In Elected Office Report

Did you catch California Women Lead's latest report on women in elected office? In 2016, the number of women in elected office fell once again. While the number of women in the State Legislature and Congressional Delegation decreased, we did see an increase in the number of women serving on County Boards of Supervisors.
