Dive In
A Message From Executive Director Rachel Michelin

My eight-year-old daughter is on our local swim team; so many afternoons are spent by the pool. The other day the coaches decided to give the kids a "treat" and let them jump off the diving board. Our pool has a normal diving board and a "high" dive. My daughter had no problems jumping off the lower diving board, but as I watched her stand in line for the high dive, I noticed she was letting other kids jump in front of her. I could tell she really wanted to do it, but was scared. I walked over to her and told her she didn't have to go off the high dive, but she looked at me with that determined look in her eye and said she really wanted to do it.

Have You Ever Wondered?

Have you ever wondered why we vote on the first Tuesday in
November? According to Election 101, the answer lies with the farmers.

Remembering Extraordinary Women

It's with great sadness that we said goodbye to two incredible female leaders over the summer: Marian Bergeson and Sharon Runner. These two women were undoubtedly trail blazers for other California women looking to enter politics. Their presence will be missed, but their legacy and contributions to California will live on for many years to come.
Did You Catch CA Women Lead In The Sac Bee?

The Sacramento Bee ran an op-ed authored by California Women Lead Executive Director Rachel  Michelin with a plea for more  women to run for elected office. It's incredible that there is a female candidate on the presidential ticket, and in California we have two women from diverse communities vying for Barbara Boxer's US Senate seat, but when we look at races a little closer to home, that's not reality.

Thank You To Our Members

The Board of Directors would like to thank all of our members who support the mission of California Women Lead. Without your support we would not be successful in our mission to ENGAGE EMPOWER ELECT. We thank you for sharing our vision that women have a place at the policy making table and that all elected and appointed boards in the state should be as diverse as our great state. Not a member?
