MAYOR'S MESSAGE
From Mayor Leonard Desiderio...

I begin this message by following-up on the report I gave to City Council on Tuesday morning regarding youths who are creating problems and interfering with the enjoyment of others. As I said to City Council, there are laws and guidelines in place at the State level that are clearly hindering local law enforcement agencies from effectively doing their job – and this is most evident when it comes to the issues we are having with young people who are gathering in large crowds, disturbing the peace, and showing a great lack of respect for others.

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE
From The Members of City Council...

At the start of the August 9 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio stated that he has directed the City’s Administration to take whatever actions are within its means to further address the problems we are experiencing with disruptive and unruly youths who are congregating on the Promenade and elsewhere in town. As the Mayor noted, municipalities up and down New Jersey’s coastline are experiencing similar issues with young people who are not acting as they should, and local law enforcement efforts to address these problems are hindered by conflicting State laws that were enacted in recent years.

PROJECT UPDATES
Maintaining Sea Isle's Infrastructure
and Improving Public Facilities

In accordance with our typical practice, now that the summer season is here, we try to limit the amount of construction taking place on public property in order to minimize the disruption to our residents and visitors, as for many, this time of the year is precious. We also are in the process of preparing and putting into place plans for the next round of capital improvements throughout the City. As these projects move forward through the design, bidding, and construction phases, we will continue to provide you with updates on their progress.

BEACH SAFETY REMINDERS
Never Enter the Water Unless a Lifeguard is Present, and Swim Directly in Front of the Lifeguard Stand

  • Do not feed the sea gulls; occasionally seagulls bite.
  • Make sure beach umbrellas are anchored securely in the sand. Do not use an umbrella when high winds could possibly carry the umbrella down the beach and injure other beach-goers.
  • Protect feet with foot wear when the sand is extremely hot. This is especially true with young children, whose feet are tender and not callused. Small children’s feet can actually be burnt to the point of blistering.

For more important safety info, go to: www.sicbp.com and click the “Beach Safety” link on the home page.
