MAYOR'S MESSAGE

From Mayor Leonard Desiderio...

Last week, I had the pleasure of cutting a ceremonial ribbon at the newly-opened Raffa’s Charcuterie Shop, which is located on Pleasure Avenue across the street from the Excursion Park Band Shell. This wonderful new establishment makes beautiful cheese boards and other creations that people are sure to enjoy at parties and other gatherings – and I was very happy to welcome them to Sea Isle City’s business community! To view pictures of the ribbon cutting ceremony, please see the “Recent Photos” section of this newsletter.

As the summer winds-down, so do many of our seasonal events – including our annual Youth Basketball League, which is run by Sea Isle City’s Division of Recreation. The league recently had their final games, after which medals were presented to the top teams in each age group. I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of the winning teams – and each of the players who “gave it their all” on the courts this summer.

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE

From The Members of City Council...

At the start of the August 23 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio spoke further about the City’s new law restricting shark fishing from our beaches, and he explained that the goal was to put into place reasonable regulations that will promote the long term sharing of surfing and fishing beaches by everyone. The Mayor also stated that the Administration will continue this conversation with members of the fishing and surfing communities after Labor Day.

Additionally, the Mayor stated that he personally spoke with Governor Murphy last week about the challenges communities are facing when young people act in unacceptable ways. The Mayor indicated that he will continue to work with Trenton – and act locally – to help curb that problem.

Please remember that smoking and the use of all vaping products is prohibited on all Sea Isle City’s beaches, beach approaches and dune paths throughout the year.

Traditionally, cigarette butts are one of the most common items found during Beach Clean-up events – plus, smoke bothers your neighbors on the sand -- so please don’t smoke on the beach!
