The 2022 Holiday Season is off to a wonderful start here in Sea Isle City. During Thanksgiving Weekend, we kicked-off this year’s festivities with a very well-attended Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony that delighted thousands of spectators on Friday night. Then, members of Sea Isle City’s business community kept the fun going strong throughout the remainder of the weekend with additional holiday events, including a Winter Village at The Ludlam, where there was ice skating and other enjoyable activities.

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE

From The Members of City Council...


At the start of the November 22 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio explained that he recently met with the local surf-fishing and surfing communities to discuss fishing regulations along our shoreline, and an agreement was made that will accommodate everyone who wants to use Sea Isle City’s beaches. The mayor also stated that he is continuing to focus on ways to curb the challenges created by juveniles and others gathering in large groups during the summer season, and he will keep everyone updated as new developments occur.

HOLIDAY BEACH TAGS

Beach Tags Make Great Gift


Sea Isle City’s Limited Edition 2023 Holiday Beach Tags are now on sale at the pre-season rate of $20 each. Holiday Beach Tags serve as regular beach passes for the entire 2023 summer season – and they make terrific gifts! They are available (while supplies last) at the Welcome Center, 300 JFK Boulevard, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM (the Welcome Center accepts cash or checks only). Holiday Beach Tags are also on sale 24-hours a day / 7-days a week at the Beach Tag Vending Machine in the lobby of City Hall, 233 JFK Boulevard (the Vending Machine accepts cash only).

 

New This Year: Holiday Beach Tags can be purchased online using a credit card – and they will be shipped directly to your front door. Additional fees will apply for online purchases. To learn more about this new service, go to www.seaislecitynj.us and click the “Departments / Beach Tag” link on the home page. If the online website reads “unavailable,” please phone the Welcome Center at 609-263-8687 for an update on overall availability.



HOLIDAY TOY & FOOD DRIVE

The Mayor Needs Your Help To Brighten The Holidays For Families In Need


Non-perishable food items and unwrapped toys are now being accepted for Mayor Desiderio’s 2022 Holiday Toy and Food Drive.  Donations can be brought to the lobby of City Hall, Crest Savings Bank (4415 Landis Avenue), First Bank of Sea Isle City (4301 Landis Avenue), KIX Package Goods (on 63rd Street), Mrs. Brizzle’s Buns & Deli (4601 Landis Avenue), Rick’s Breakfast House (6112 Landis Avenue), Sands Department Store (6208 Landis Avenue), and the Welcome Center. The last day to make a donation at these locations is December 19. Gift cards and monetary donations will also be welcomed and can be mailed/delivered to the Mayor’s Office at City Hall, 233 JFK Boulevard, Sea Isle City, NJ 08243. Prior to Christmas Day, the Mayor and his “Elves” will personally deliver all of the donated items to families in need. For more info, please phone 609-263-4461, ext. 1245.



VFW CHRISTMAS CARAVAN

Help The VFW Bring Holiday Cheer To

The Vineland Veterans Home


On December 9, the members of VFW Post 1963 will make a special trip to Vineland, where they will spread holiday cheer to the residents of the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home. To help make their annual “Christmas Caravan” a success, the VFW's Auxiliary is accepting donations of pre-packaged snacks, arts-and-crafts supplies, adult coloring books, jigsaw puzzles, sweat pants and comfortable loungewear, bedroom slippers, socks, pajamas, toiletries, batteries, and other items that they will personally deliver to the Veterans Home. Donations must be delivered to VFW Post 1963 (301 JFK Boulevard) by December 4. Italian-American Club Will Honor

"Person of the Year"

During Annual Dinner on December 14


Sea Isle City’s Italian American Club will host a Christmas Wine Pairing Dinner on Wednesday, December 14, starting at 6:00 PM at the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City. Tickets cost $65 per person, which includes wine pairing for each course (a cheese display, salad, entrée and dessert). During the dinner, the Italian American Club will honor their 2022 Person of the Year, Joe Bellucci. For ticket info, phone Debbie Brennan at 609-457-7006 before December 7. All are invited to attend; however, attendants must be 21 or older. Tickets will not be available at the door.

Spend The Holiday Season

In Sea Isle City


Holiday Open House at the Historical Museum: On Saturday, December 3, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Sea Isle City Historical Museum (located on the first floor of the Sea Isle City Library at 4800 Central Avenue) will welcome guests with complimentary refreshments and free tours. During the Open House, the museum’s new artifact (a wooden carousel horse that was nearly lost during the Storm of 1962) will be officially welcomed and put on permanent display.

 

Season of Giving Event: On December 3, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Sea Isle City Italian-American Club (309 JFK Boulevard) will collect donations of toiletries, disposable wipes, soap, razors, socks, underwear, and large zip-lock bags, which they will use to create “Hygiene Bags” for people in need in the South Jersey area. Santa's Calling Program: Register your child to receive a personal phone call from Santa Claus on December 7, between 6:30 and 7:30 PM. Pre-registration is required by December 6. This event is hosted by the City’s Division of Recreation in cooperation with the Knights of Columbus of Saint Joseph Church. For more info, phone 609-263-0050.

 

Holiday Lighting Contest: Hosted by the City’s Division of Recreation, this event is open to all Sea Isle City homes and businesses. Pre-registration is required by December 7. Judging will take place on Thursday, December 8, between 5:30 and 9:00 PM. Prizes provided by First Bank of Sea Isle City and Rocky & Fred’s Creative Design Florist. Live Nativity: Saturday, December 17, 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Saint Joseph Church (44th Street and Landis Avenue). All are welcome to attend this free community event, which will include live animals and nativity characters. Phone 609-263-8696 for more details.


Santa’s Mailbox: There’s a special red mailbox in the lobby of City Hall that children can use to mail letters to Saint Nick. No postage is necessary, because the City uses a magical delivery service to ensure that all of Santa’s mail arrives safely at the North Pole.  

 

New Year’s Eve Fireworks: Saturday, December 31, at 8:00 PM, on the JFK Boulevard Beach. For more details, phone 609-263-8687.

Make Great Gifts


The Sea Isle City Environmental Commission’s Limited Edition 2023 “Turtle T-Shirts” are on sale at the Welcome Center. Short-sleeved shirts cost $10 each, long-sleeved shirts are $20, and “Turtle Caps” cost $20. The Welcome Center is open Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts and caps benefit Environmental Commission projects, which help keep Sea Isle City green and beautiful.

VFW APPRECIATION DINNER:

On November 21, the members of VFW Post 1963’s Auxiliary hosted their annual Appreciation Dinner for the veterans of their organization - which was enhanced by the presence of Sea Isle's local Boy and Girl Scout Troops.

On Friday evening, November 25, Sea Isle City’s Holiday Parade rolled along Central and Landis Avenues, much to the delight of the thousands of spectators who lined the streets.

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY:

On November 25, following Sea Isle’s Holiday Parade, Mayor Desiderio hosted Sea Isle City’s 2022 Tree Lighting Ceremony at Excursion Park, where the Mayor and Santa Claus flipped a switch and illuminated Sea Isle City’s giant Christmas Tree.

BEACH CHRISTMAS TREE:

To enhance Sea Isle City’s holiday atmosphere, the Giordano family has placed a fresh-cut Christmas tree on the 44th Street Beach for everyone to enjoy. The tree is a great place for family photo-ops – or to add an ornament of your own!
