MAYOR'S MESSAGE

In a blink, Christmas Day 2024 has come and gone. Fortunately, this has been (and continues to be) another wonderful holiday season in Sea Isle City, and I once again want to thank everyone who helped make this year’s festivities so “Merry and Bright” for the people of our town!

In addition to Sea Isle’s outstanding civic organizations and our dedicated municipal employees, who hosted many holiday events for us, my thanks also go to everyone who supported our 2024 Mayor’s Holiday Toy & Food Drive – which was very successful and touched many lives! On Monday afternoon, we delivered the many donations that we collected during this year’s drive to families in need, and the gratitude that was expressed by this year’s recipients made the entire effort extremely worthwhile.

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE

During the December 24 City Council meeting, Ordinance 1720 was adopted following its Second Reading and Public Hearing. Ordinance 1720 was written to allow a $1 increase in the one-way daytime fares for Sea Isle City’s Jitney Service (thus raising the daytime fare from $2 to $3; and the $4 nighttime fare staying the same). Jitneys have been serving our community since 2014, and this is the first time the Jitney drivers have requested an increase to their fares since they first started carrying passengers up and down Landis Avenue; therefore, City Council feels that their request for an increase is reasonable.

Each of the resolutions on the December 24 Consent Agenda was approved, including…

HOLIDAY TRASH COLECTIONS

No Curbside Trash or Recycling Collection

on New Year's Day

Because New Year’s Day is a municipal holiday, there will not be any Curbside Trash or Recycling Collections on Wednesday, January 1, 2025; therefore, the streets that normally have curbside collections on Wednesdays will have their trash and recycling collected on Thursday, January 2, that week.

The Trash & Recycling Drop-off Yard (aka: “The Depot”), located next to the Bridge at 401 JFK Boulevard, will be open on New Year’s Eve Day (December 31) and New Year’s Day (January 1) from 7:15 AM to 2:45 PM each day. Please remember that it is unlawful to leave trash or recycling outside of the Depot’s gates during off-hours.

Fresh-cut (live) Christmas Trees will be collected from curbs during the month of January. Fresh-cut trees must have all decorations (including all tinsel) removed to be recycled (rather than being added to a land fill). Also, to ensure your fresh-cut tree is recycled, please remove tree stands and place the tree directly on the curb (not in a plastic bag). Recycling is the preferred method when disposing of fresh-cut trees – so please help Mother Nature if you can!

FIREWORKS

Don't Miss Sea Isle's Pyrotechnic Display

at 8 PM on New Year's Eve

Sea Isle City’s Department of Community Services will host a New Years Eve Fireworks Display on Tuesday, December 31, at 8:00 PM, on the JFK Boulevard Beach. Please be aware that the beach and Promenade adjacent to the fireworks launch area will be closed to pedestrian traffic prior to and during the fireworks show. For more info, phone 609-263-8687.

Are You Planning to Dine Out on New Year’s Eve? Don’t forget that enjoying a meal at any of Sea Isle City’s wonderful restaurants is a great way to ring-in the New Year – however, due to the popularity of our local eateries, it’s a good idea to make your New Year’s Eve dinner reservations sooner rather than later!
