From Mayor Leonard Desiderio...

Unfortunately, because of COVID-19, we are forced to cancel most of the events that were scheduled for this year’s Fall Family Festival Weekend in September. Because huge crowds gather each year for the festival’s vendors market, food court and family-friendly activities, we simply do not feel that they can be held in a safe manner. However, as was the case during this year’s Skimmer Festival in June, we still plan to hold our Fall Festival Antique Auto Show on Sunday, September 20, along the Promenade, which can be held with social distancing. After the awards are presented to the winners of this year’s auto show, we will then have the annual Fall Festival Antique Auto Parade at 1:30 p.m. on September 20.

From The Members of City Council...

At the start of the July 28 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio spoke about the importance of wearing face masks and social distancing in public – and how it is virtually impossible to enforce these directives. The Mayor also stated that this topic is a “matter of personal responsibility” and “being mindful of other people and their health is just the right thing to do.”
City Council echoes the Mayor’s comments in the hope that everyone in Sea Isle City – and elsewhere – will follow all CDC safety directives, wear face masks, and practice social distancing.

Beach Fill Project Making Steady Progress

Dredging has been completed in the mid-town portion of the Beach Replenishment Project (28th Street to 52nd Street); and work has begun in the southern part of town, where the contractor will add sand to the beaches from approximately 74th Street to Townsend Inlet. A “sub-line” pipe has been installed on the 84th Street Beach (the sub-line delivers sand from the ocean dredge to the beach). For nearly 2-weeks, work has been taking place north of 84th Street (from the sub-line on 84th Street north to 74th Street); work is expected to be completed north of 84th Street within the next few days. Afterwards, dredging operations will return to 84th Street and move southward to Townsend’s Inlet.
