I am happy to report that we had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend here in Sea Isle City. Not only were there many people in town enjoying our beaches, waterways, and local businesses, but we also had an amazing turn-out at our annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Park, where hundreds of patriotic residents and visitors gathered to honor the men and women who died while serving in our nation’s military.

At the start of the May 23 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio reported that “sand harvesting” efforts have been successful on the storm-eroded beaches in Sea Isle’s south-end – and that all of Sea Isle City’s beaches will be open and accessible this summer.
Next, the Mayor invited Sea Isle City resident Ellie Kutschera to step forward to honor her for being a finalist in the New Jersey League of Municipalities 2023 Scholarship Program, during which she submitted an enjoyable essay that the mayor read aloud. City Council congratulates Miss Kutschera on becoming a finalist in the competition – and we applaud her writing skills!

Be On The Lookout For Turtles
In The Road
Please drive slowly and be on the look-out for Diamondback Terrapin Turtles as they cross our busy roads in search of nesting locations. If you see a turtle crossing the street and you want to assist her, please help her continue in the direction she is headed if you are able – BUT ALWAYS THINK “SAFETY FIRST” and use caution whenever you step into the street.
Please don't stand over turtles taking photos while they are nesting...this may frighten the turtle and they'll walk away.
If you see an injured turtle, please call Susan or Steve Ahern, of Sea Isle Terrapin Rescue, at 609-263-7358. If the Aherns are not available, please follow the instructions on their answering machine.
