I begin this message with some very good news! After four months, Sea Isle City has received permission from the New Jersey State Comptroller to advertise for construction bids for our future Community Center. The process of receiving that permission took longer than we expected; however, after making all the changes that the Comptroller’s Office requested to the bid package, we are now very happy to be on the threshold of advertising for bids – which we plan to do next week.

HYDRANT FLUSHING
Regular Maintenance Ensures Reliability
During the months of October and November, the Sea Isle City Water Department will be flushing-out the water distribution system through the fire hydrants and exercising water valves throughout town. If a hydrant is being flushed near your home or business, we encourage you to avoid using washing machines, dishwashers, or other water-using devices during flushing operations. Residents can expect very little disruption in their water service - if any. However, low water pressure and possible water discoloration may occur. In the event of discoloration, simply allow water to run from the tap for a short while until clear. These conditions are not harmful and are usually short term. Semi-annual hydrant flushing is required to ensure that hydrants and the water distribution systems are functioning properly and can provide the proper drinking water quality (thus providing adequate water flow when needed). This is also a requirement of the Water Quality Accountability Act. For additional info, phone 609-263-6000 (ext. 11) or email: dteefyjr@seaislecitynj.us.
