YouthZone Has Broken Ground!
|
|
On October 25th, YouthZone and our supporters gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of our new space, which is located at the old library building of Glenwood Springs!
Our Capital Campaign Team surpassed passed the 1 Million Dollar threshold in gifted funding, all thanks to the support of our community.
We still, however, have $600K to reach before the start of January.

YouthZone's State-Wide Recognition
|
|
On October 1st, of this year, YouthZone received the “El Pomar Award for Excellence” for our overall programming and effectiveness. We received this recognition in part to our astounding restorative justice programming, as well as our continued support of 900 youth and their families, of which fewer than one in ten reoffend.
This state-wide recognition, which is only awarded to three organizations in total, also honored “La Plata Youth Services” and “We Don’t Waste.”
All three, including YouthZone, stood out as the front runners of Colorado’s nonprofit roster.
Ultimately, this isn’t only important to YouthZone; it’s also a win for the communities of The Roaring Fork Valley. The grant of $25k is an investment into community growth, which ensures the momentum of positive youth development stays the course.
Founded in 1937,
The El Pomar Foundation
, a private general-purpose foundation, accepts applications from 501(c)3 organizations serving the state of Colorado in the areas of arts and culture, civic and community initiatives, education, health, and human services. Since their inception, they’ve gone on to have a 1.16-billion-dollar impact on the State of Colorado. With 464 million dollars of approved grants awarded over the past 80 years, they’re truly investing in our future.

The YouthZone Ascent Showcase;
A Great Success!
|
|
This past October our YouthZone clients put on
The Ascent Showcase
; we wanted to shift attention to how the great work our youth are doing impacts our community, as well as YouthZone, in a positive way.
There were four teams; they consisted of a dance team, a photography team, a mural team, and a music team. The idea to turn this event into a creative showcase was a collective decision made by Lori Mueller, Robin Tolan, Andie Scott, Chris Perry, and Alex Williard; all of whom have a hand in YouthZone operations. At YouthZone, we believe that allowing kids to explore their creativity is simply an extension of their problem solving ability, something YouthZone works diligently to foster in all of our clients.

This Week We Welcome: Aerin and Susie
|
|
Erin is YouthZone's newest Senate Bill 98 Coordinator. She recently moved to the area from Utah with her family and currently works out of YouthZone's office in Rifle, but works out of Glenwood on occasion as well. Senate Bill 98 ensures that our high risk clients receive the proper support.
Susie, who joined YouthZone's roster a few months back, is our newest Grants and Data manager. This pivotal role ensure that all of YouthZone's funding sources line up and are properly reflected in our budget plan. Without her diligence, YouthZone wouldn't be able to track all of the community's continued support.
