MAYOR'S MESSAGE
In one of his many popular movies, Clint Eastwood famously asked the question: “Do you feel lucky?” After last weekend’s nor-easter – and the impact it could have had on our region – I think we can all count our lucky stars because the coastal storm we had seen coming and carefully planned for was not as severe as some forecasts predicted.
As often happens when a storm of this magnitude is rolling-up the coastline, our municipal offices (including the Mayor’s Office) receive a variety of phone calls from people who have questions about the pending storm – including where flooding might occur and if we have any insight about the storm’s impact. As we all know, staying informed with accurate information prior to any serious event can be the best away to avoid problems – and when it comes to foul weather, such as the nor-easter that impacted our community on Sunday and Monday, everyone can rest assured that we take storm readiness very seriously here in Sea Isle City, and our Office of Emergency Management, our first responders, and other municipal employees are dedicated to keeping everyone safe and well-informed prior to (and during) bad weather events.

CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE
Following Mayor Desiderio’s Report during the October 14 City Council Meeting, Sea Isle City Chief Financial Officer Jennifer McIver updated Council on the City’s recent “Best Practice Report,” which is part of the State of New Jersey’s Best Practice Inventory (an annual assessment for municipalities, managed by the NJ Division of Local Government Services, to evaluate fiscal and operational best practices). Because Sea Isle City did well on this year’s report, we will receive 100% of our annual State Aid Payment.
After Ms. McIver spoke, Ordinance 1725 was Introduced with First Reading. This ordinance was written to amend Sea Isle City’s Zoning Map, due to changes that have taken place over time, as identified by the city’s Master Plan as needing revision. Ordinance 1725 will have Second Reading and Public Hearing (and possible adoption) during the City Council meeting Wednesday, November 12.

BEACH CLEAN-UP DATA SHEETS
Volunteers Can Turn-In Data Sheets
at The Welcome Center
The Sea Isle City Environmental Commission would like to thank everyone who donated their time during Saturday’s Autumn Beach Clean-Up! We appreciate the volunteers who collected trash and debris from Sea Isle’s beaches and dunes – and those who planted dure grass, which helps keep our community’s shoreline strong and resilient! We are thankful for you all, and we hope to see you at our Spring Beach Clean-up in 2025!
Still Have Data Sheets? If you participated in Saturday’s Beach Clean-up and you still have the Data Sheet you were given to document what items you collected, please bring those sheets to the Welcome Center at your earliest convenience so we can send them to Clean Ocean Action in North Jersey, where they will be used to identify any possible pollution trends. Thanks again!

NO GAS AT OCEAN VIEW WAWA OR PARKWAY REST STOP
Plan Ahead If You Need Gas
For Your Vehicle!
The Wawa at Route 9 & Sea Isle Boulevard (in Ocean View) has temporarily closed their Fuel Service Pumps while new equipment is being installed. The work is expected to continue until mid- to late-November, and during that time fuel is not available to motorists. The Wawa market will remain open for business (inside) while work on the fuel pumps takes place.
Also, the Ocean View Service Plaza on the Garden State Parkway (aka: the Bruce Willis Service Plaza) has also temporarily closed their Fuel Service Pumps through the middle of December. During that time, there will be no fuel service outside, and no food, information, or restrooms inside the Bruce Willis Plaza while renovations take place.

HYDRANT FLUSHING
Seasonal Maintenance Ensures
Water Reliability
During the months of October and November, the Sea Isle City Water Department will flush-out the water distribution system through the city’s fire hydrants and exercising water valves throughout town. Semi-annual hydrant flushing is required to ensure that hydrants and the water distribution systems are functioning properly and can provide the proper drinking water quality (thus providing adequate water flow when needed). This is also a requirement for the Water Quality Accountability Act.
If a hydrant is being flushed near your home or business, we encourage you to avoid using washing machines, dishwashers or other water using devices during flushing operations. Residents can expect very little disruption in their water service - if any. However, low water pressure and possible water discoloration may occur. In the event of discoloration, simply allow water to run from the tap for a short while until clear. These conditions are not harmful and are usually short term. For additional info, phone 609-263-6000 (ext. 3011) or email: dteefyjr@seaislecitynj.us.
