Lakeway Municipal Court Honored with 8th Traffic Safety Award
For the eighth time, Lakeway Municipal Court has received the Municipal Traffic Safety Initiatives (MTSI) Award from the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center (TMCEC). In the category of cities with populations under 30,000, only 7 other cities received the honor this year in Texas. Every year, TMCEC and the MTSI project, with funding from TxDOT, recognize those municipal courts that have demonstrated excellence in preventing impaired driving and improving traffic safety in their communities. Lakeway Municipal Court currently has a Bumper Sticker program to report unsafe driving, a Teen Driving Contract, Traffic Safety brochure and recently partnered with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Lakeway to host the Reality Education for Drivers (RED) program to educate young adult drivers on the importance of driving safe, driving sober and driving secure. Avoid Oak Tree Pruning From Now Through Early Summer
We want to protect the health and safety of our residents and trees. As a friendly reminder, we are currently in 'no trimming' season for oak trees. Pruning or cutting of oak trees is prohibited in the spring months of February through June in Lakeway due to fungal spore formation and beetle activity being highest during these months. The ordinance is in place to protect the safety of our residents and property along with the health of the oak trees. Pruning and cutting can begin again in July. If any part of an oak tree poses a safety hazard to people or property, please contact our Code Compliance team at (512) 314-7500 or click here for more information. They would need to ensure authorized cuts are sealed within 10 minutes of the cut with pruning spray. Thank you for helping ensure our beautiful tree population remains healthy!
