4th of July Celebration Next Week!
Lakeway's Hometown Celebration kicks off next Thursday morning! The theme this year is "Fly Me To The Moon, " and we're excited to have astronaut Capt. Kenneth Cockrell, U.S. Navy (Ret.) as our Grand Marshal for this year!

The City of Lakeway has several exciting events to enjoy as we celebrate America's birthday. We hope you can celebrate with us!

Here is a timeline:

8:30 AM Parade: The parade kicks off on Lakeway Drive from Live Oak Golf Course at 510 Lakeway Drive to the City of Lakeway Activity Center located at 105 Cross Creek (expect traffic delays in and around the area early Thursday morning).

10:30 AM Ceremony: After the parade wraps up, join us at the Activity Center for fun, music and a hot dog lunch. You'll also get the chance to hear from Capt. Cockrell.

12:00 PM Swimming: And to top it off at high noon, come out to the City of Lakeway Swim Center at 3103 Lakeway Blvd for some special all-day pricing of just $3 per person. Pool closes at 8:00 p.m., just in time to head out and catch some fireworks.

Give Your 620 Improvement Feedback
Several area residents turned out for an open house this week on the future RM 620 project. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) held the event this past Wednesday at Bee Cave City Hall to give residents an opportunity to weigh in on the RM 620 Improvement Plan. The new project is slated to begin in late 2022 with the main feature including a widening in both directions from two lanes to three. The plan also includes a raised median and a separate bicycle/pedestrian path.

Free Performance This Weekend
The City of Lakeway Arts Committee is proud to present a performance by Kiyoshi Tamagawa, classical pianist this Sunday (June 30) at 4 p.m. at the Lakeway Activity Center.

Tamagawa has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist throughout North America, as well as Europe and Asia. He is the 2013 recipient of the Collegiate Teaching Award of the Texas Music Teachers' Association and placed in the American Prize Lorin Hollander Piano Concerto Award competition.

Admission to the concert is free, so come join us!

Don't Drink and Drive!

With the 4th of July holiday approaching, additional Travis County Sheriff's Deputies will be on the roadways throughout Travis County this weekend through July 14. It's part of the department's Impaired Driving Mobilization grant, which targets drivers who are under the influence of alcohol. Alcohol-related accidents and deaths are preventable. The Travis County Sheriff's Department along with the Lakeway Police Department asks that you report impaired drivers to 911. They want to remind drivers that 'buzzed driving' is still drunk driving. If you drink, don't drive.
Let Your Voice Be Heard

There have been several transportation meetings to discuss future projects throughout Lakeway and Travis County. July 11 is another chance to participate in a meeting to offer comments on the 2020 Unified Transportation Program (UTP) with TxDOT. It's a 10-year plan to guide development of future transportation projects and related activities throughout the state. Your voice is important. The meeting will take place July 11 at 4 p.m. at 200 E. Riverside Dr. in Austin.
