Mentor Breakfast
Our 2019 Mentor Breakfast was a huge success and
we are thankful to all of the parents, volunteers,                  and of course community members who made              this event possible!
Students had the opportunity to hear from several
mentors from the fields that they are interested in
pursuing and made invaluable connections.

Dr. JoAnna Schilling, President at Cypress College, inspired our students with her story of triumphing through failures, and her very interesting journey with her background in theater, play writing, and education. She reminded our students to dream big, never give up, and
that hard work will always pay off.                         Thank you Dr. Schilling for your motivating message!

Internships & Enrichment Programs

LAEF SAT Prep Class
From our friends at LAEF:

To assist our Griffins in the college application process, we will be offering an SAT Prep Program geared specifically for  Juniors planning on taking the May 4th SAT Exam. (Typically, Juniors take their SATs for the first time in May, then SATs  again in the Fall of their senior year.)
This preparatory class is designed to raise your child's score. We familiarize students with the format and content of the exam,  practice test-taking strategies that maximize scores, and help students understand their strengths and weaknesses on the exam to  guide additional independent practice. We provide your student with the same strategies for which leading SAT Prep  companies charge over $1,500. The best part is... we're only asking for a $90 suggested donation to LAEF to cover the upfront cost of instruction, facilities and materials!

This SAT Prep program will be filled up on a first-come, first-served basis. All classes will meet on Saturday mornings at LAHS in the Media Center from 8AM-11AM. The five classes are scheduled for March 23, March 30, April 6, April 13 and April 20. All materials will be provided for FREE!

To sign up and to get more details, visit www.LAEF4kids.org/SAT
Notes about College Applications & FAFSA- Financial Aid
Seniors, a few things to remember:

1. Congratulations if you have completed your college applications,
give yourselves a hand!

2. If you plan to apply to a community college, you can do so now!
Applications are open and you are encouraged to get started

3. Regardless of what type of school you are attending after graduation, you should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible! The deadline is March 2nd, but the sooner it gets done, the better!

4. Create an FSA ID number (both the student and one parent need to sign up for an ID number), and you and your parents can complete the FAFSA in no time!
Make sure you only visit  www.FASFA.gov  (no other websites will be authentic)
