Important Update from Mrs. Harrison, Head of School
Dear MCS Community,
Please view this important video message from Mrs. Harrison, Head of School. The message includes an important update and announcement. Here is the follow up letter that was also sent today.
"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
COVID, COVID, COVID
We realize getting emails about positive cases of COVID can produce anxious thoughts. This is understandable. The same thing happens when emails go out about lice, we all admit they make us start itching! We want to highlight that there have been five emails total that have had five students test positive for COVID-19 (two students in one family), and one staff member test positive. To date there is not a single case of student to student or student to staff transmission at MCS. These six cases have mandated quarantining 300 students and staff.
The procedures in place are inconvenient but they are working. As we are quickly approaching Christmas we recognize people's desire to see family. One student testing positive requires their entire cohort to quarantine. Please minimize exposure. Every positive case has come through exposure outside of the school but has had great impact on families from school; it has been especially difficulty for single parent and double income households. Please be considerate of the upcoming holiday and use safe practices so that our families and staff can enjoy their Christmas break.
PLEASE send your child to school with a face covering AND place extra in their backpack. Please make sure they have a refillable water bottle. This week alone I had to give 150 masks to students who did not have one. I gave out 135 water bottles. This is an expense for MCS that should be avoidable and could be better spent on our kid's educational enhancements.
Finally, there have been a couple of questions about how lunch and recess work. Kids eat distanced within their cohorts only. At recess if they are on a rotation through certain zones by grade level, they may remove their masks only if they are playing in a socially distanced manner. For example, gaga ball requires mask. If talking or playing games where social distancing is not maintained, masks must be in place. Below is a snapshot of a lunch table that shows the "X" marks are the only areas where they are permitted to sit. The second image is the playground zones which are on a weekly rotation schedule. As outlined in our reopening plan, all playground equipment and tables are sanitized between uses.
Welcoming New Staff!

Come and join us in prayer over our school, staff, teachers, and fellow MCS families. Parents in Prayer is foundational to the beloved community of MCS. It is an honor to join together to pray over the school and love those we are placed to specifically pray for. PiP is committed to being a protected space where needs can be confidentially covered in prayer. God's word says, "Wherever two or more gather in my name, there I am with them" Matthew 18:20. We invite staff and parents to submit any prayer request as it would be a gift to lift all needs to God. If you would like to submit a prayer request or be included in the communication for Parents in Prayer please contact Dana Fiori and Chris Blue at: email@example.com

Lost and Found items will be donated to Wear and Share on Dec. 18th. Please have your student check the Lost and Found and/or ask their teacher or an aide for assistance in finding their items. We would love nothing more than to have everything returned to their proper homes.

Elementary Christmas Chapel
Our students enjoyed a classroom chapel to explore the themes of waiting for Christmas to come. They had brief discussions around the three people from the Luke 2 Christmas Story: the Shepherds, Simeon and Anna. They also viewed a video about a boy who was waiting for Christmas that had a twist ending. Our students were also heard about the opportunity to give to our Project Giving Light Toy Drive on Monday, Dec. 14.

Christmas Toy Collection
This year elementary students will have the opportunity to bless families and kids in underprivileged neighborhoods, as we again partner with Project Giving Light in a 1-day Christmas Toy Collection on Monday, 12/14! As the Christmas season approaches, we know that this year of 2020 has brought new challenges to families like never before. The kids supported by Project Giving Light kids do not typically receive Christmas gifts outside of what PGL provides for them. Our hope is to stock Project Giving Light with gifts to bless families during this Christmas season, and show these kids that they are both seen and loved. In an effort to be the hands and feet of Jesus to struggling families in underprivileged neighborhoods, we have attached a list of favorite gift ideas for 2 specific age ranges (as seen on the attachment). Girls may purchase girl gifts and boys purchase boy gifts. $10-$20 gift cards to Amazon or Target are appropriate for all age ranges.
Collection bins will be placed in the elementary hallways, the front lobby, and outside the front lobby for easy drop off opportunities. If you would like to send your child with their unwrapped gift to school on Monday, 12/14, their teacher will direct them where to place their gift donation.
Thank you in advance as you prayerfully consider purchasing a gift for a child this Christmas season!

Wrap N Pray Chapel
Another HUGE thank yougoes out to all middle school students who brought a toy to donate for our December Share2Wear! During Chapel this week we heard from Project Giving Light Co-Founder and MCS mom, Kim Bagramian, about the students who would receive the gifts that we were sharing that morning. She explained that the gifts we brought may likely be the only Christmas gift a child receives this year, and that each one would be cherished by the recipient. Partnering with PGL in this way allows our MCS community to help share the light, joy, and love of Jesus with kids and families and lets them know that they are both seen and loved!
The students took time to personally wrap the gift they brought, and then pray over the student who would receive their gift. We may not hear all of the stories of the impact these gifts will make, but we trust that Jesus is going to use each one for His purposes!
For those who were remote during Monday's Chapel, parents can drop the gifts off in the front lobby whenever it's convenient for them.
For 8th graders who will return to in-person learningon Wednesday, 12/16, please bring your wrapped gift with you to Homeroom.
Note: For details regarding the elementary school toy collection, please see the elementary section. Thank you!
Christmas Door Decorating Contest
The Annual Door Decorating Homeroom Competition is underway! This year's theme is relative to 2020: Christmas in Quarantine. Items such as toilet paper and a water bottle were given as props. Stay tuned next week to see which Homeroom is crowned champion for 2020!!!
