Annual surveys due March 2
Each year, SSCC collects data from stakeholders & produces a coalition report. The report reflects all the outstanding work taking place in Northern Indiana & can be used to promote our coalition & our region while providing opportunities for funding sustainable transportation projects. The surveys are also used to determine awards at our annual stakeholder meeting! Help us showcase all the activity taking place by telling us about your efforts to reduce petroleum consumption & greenhouse gas emissions. All SSCC members, partners & stakeholders should complete the survey. You may download the survey here. Please return your fleet's data via the Excel spreadsheet by email to Catherine Yoder.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Diversify options for a future-proof sustainable transportation network
Something we all need, perhaps now more than ever after the challenges of 2020, is a future we can look forward to. For those of us in the sustainable transportation and mobility field, the future is brighter than ever. Mobility is not the same as transportation and different governmental agencies have slightly different definitions of mobility as it applies to their operations. In general, transportation is the act of moving goods or people from one place to another. Mobility, on the other hand, is the ability to move people or things with ease. Propane, also known as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG or LP-gas) or autogas, has been used worldwide as a vehicle fuel for decades. Stored under pressure inside a tank, propane turns into a colorless, odorless liquid. As pressure is released, the liquid propane vaporizes and turns into gas that is used for combustion. An odorant, ethyl mercaptan, is added for leak detection. Propane has a high octane rating and excellent properties for spark-ignited internal combustion engines. Propane is produced as a by-product of natural gas processing and crude oil refining. It accounts for about 2 percent of the energy used in the U.S.
