    Fruit & Veggies - More Matters Month 
   Fruits and vegetables benefit kids in many ways, including    
   improved nutrition, decreased obesity risk and better school
   performance; however, s ixty percent of children do not eat
   enough fruit to meet daily recommendations, and 93 percent 
   of children don't eat enough vegetables. September is

   First 5 San Joaquin provides home visitation services under
   two initiatives that target high need families:  1) Healthy &
   Ready to Learn Home Visitation Initiative and 2) CalWORKs
   Health Education Pilot Program (CalHEPP). Programs funded
   under these initiatives provide weekly in-home services to
   empower parents to make healthy lifestyle changes.

Town Hall:  Improving the Oral Health of Our Children
Join us for a conversation with experts, policymakers, and other community members on the state of the oral health of our children and implications for our community, along with strategies to address the critical issues facing young children in San Joaquin County. The Oral Health Town Hall will take place on October 4, 2016.
Family Day at the Park
This Saturday, September 17th 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM, the annual  Family Day at the Park event will be held at University Park. The event  provides a full day of fun and educational activities for the entire community.  Be sure to visit the First 5 San Joaquin sponsored Alphabet Alley!

Ready4K Text Messaging
Ready4K  is a research-based text messaging program for parents. Each week, parents receive fun facts and easy tips to boost their child's learning. Ready4K is free and available to parents with children aged 3 and 4 years, and in kindergarten.

Public Health Services and the Office of Emergency Services kicked off National Preparedness Month, September 2016, by encouraging our staff and community members to plan, prepare and be ready for all-hazards emergencies or disasters. View more information
