Introducing Our New City Seal and Official Logo |
As the year comes to a close, we are excited to unveil our first official logo alongside a refreshed city seal. These updates honor the City of Selma's agricultural heritage while embracing a modern design that represents growth and progress. The updated seal keeps familiar elements, such as a grape cluster, world map, and the title “The Raisin Capital of the World,” while incorporating contemporary colors and fonts for a polished, timeless look.
The new logo complements the updated seal with a sleek design featuring a grapevine intertwined with the “S” of Selma. Its deep blue-purple tones and elegant serif font convey resilience, sophistication, and the city’s focus on development. The tagline, “Where Good Things Grow,” reflects Selma’s commitment to community growth and economic potential.
Ending the year with an official logo marks an exciting milestone for Selma. The refreshed visuals provide a cohesive and modern identity, representing both the city’s rich history and its bright future. The new logo and seal will be used across city materials, marketing tools, and equipment, helping Selma stand out as it moves toward continued growth and prosperity in the coming years.

Selma Sidewalk Connectivity Phase II Project Completed! |
The City of Selma is proud to announce the successful completion of the Selma Sidewalk Connectivity Phase II Project (CDBG 23651)! This project marks another significant step forward in enhancing pedestrian access and safety, as outlined in the City of Selma Active Transportation Plan.
The project focused on constructing continuous sidewalks and improving accessible routes in key areas of the city. The upgrades were implemented around the neighborhood block of Yerba Street, Skelton Street, Valley View Street, and Van Horn Street. These improvements create safer and more connected walking routes for residents, families, and visitors while encouraging active transportation and ensuring accessibility for all members of our community.
The work was completed by R.J. Berry Jr., Inc., who began construction on October 7, 2024, and finished ahead of schedule on November 20, 2024.
This accomplishment highlights the City of Selma’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents by investing in infrastructure that promotes mobility and inclusivity. Not only does the project enhance safety, but it also strengthens community ties by making it easier for everyone to navigate and enjoy our city.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the residents for their patience and support throughout the construction phase. Your cooperation played a vital role in the success of this project, helping to make Selma a safer, more connected, and vibrant place to live.

Mid-Year Budget Update: What You Need to Know
The mid-year budget adjustment is an important process that helps ensure the City’s finances stay on track. About halfway through the year, City Management (and City Council?) review how much money has been spent and how much has come in from taxes and other funding sources. This review helps them make any necessary changes, like adjusting for unexpected costs or shifts in revenue. It’s a chance to make sure that the City is using its resources wisely and that services to the community can continue smoothly.
Be on the lookout within the next few months for updates regarding the mid-year adjustments and how they may impact our City’s plans for the rest of the year.
