St. John's Episcopal Church - Centreville, VA

Parish News - June 11, 2025

To St. John's Parishioners and Friends:

pentecost 2025

This past Sunday's celebration of Pentecost was supposed to be an outdoor Eucharist. Sadly, the weather didn't cooperate, so we celebrated the birthday of the church inside our historic sanctuary. Here's a St. John's family photo. Blessings!

Faithfully,

Kevin

The Rev. Kevin Laskowski

Priest-in-Charge

St. John's Episcopal Church

Next Chapter Thank You!

Thank you to all who contributed to our Next Chapter Campaign!

The past months have been a time of hard work and expectant transition. The preschool and daycare that occupied a large portion of St. John's facility moved last year. To help cover some of our lost revenue and to assist with the transition, in late 2024, an anonymous donor gave us $42,000 with the understanding that, at the right time, we would approach the congregation to supplement, even match, that amount.

Our fundraising effort wrapped in May, but we're pleased to report that we have now raised more than $43,000, more than matching our donor's generosity! Thank you for helping write the next chapter here at St. John's. Blessings!

Men's Group Breakfast and Grounds Clean-Up, June 21

When: Saturday, June 21, 2025 @ 8:00 a.m.

Where (New Spot): First Watch at Fair Lakes, 12249 Fair Lakes Promenade Dr., Fairfax, VA

The grounds right around the historic church are a little bit overgrown with weeds and debris. Some branches are now touching our freshly painted sanctuary! The breakfast will be followed by a very brief clean up. Please bring pruners/loppers/gloves. For whoever is able to stay, we will work from around 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. (about an hour only). We would like the grounds to look nice not only for our parish, but as the building is being shown to potential tenants. RSVP here.

WORSHIP

Sunday Sermon

The miracles of Pentecost are found in fire, wind, and speaking in tongues, but the miracles of Pentecost aren't just about how the disciples testified but that they testified and what they shared: the mighty deeds of God.
