The 33rd Annual Centreville Day is upon us! Centreville Day will be held Saturday, October 18 here in the Centreville Historic District from 10 AM to 4 PM. There's so much to be seen this year: the Eco Expo, the Safety Expo, Pets in the Park, the Trick or Treat Trail, the Historic Centreville Trail, food, entertainment, vendors, rides, and more! Admission is free. Entertainment is free. Children's rides are free. Invite family and friends!
And, of course, St. John's will be there!
And we need your help to share St. John's with the community. Sign up HERE (or in the St. John's breezeway) or contact Senior Warden Lisa Heller or Fr. Kevin to volunteer. We need volunteers to set up, staff, and break down our booths as well as tour guides and photographers. If you can't be there October 18, we could use help with baked goods to share on the day, promotional materials, and more. Sign up now!
Faithfully,
Kevin

Theology on Tap, Tuesday, September 16
The Rev. Kevin Laskowski joins The Falls Church (Episcopal) at its Theology on Tap series to explore the Gospel of Revolution. We'll discuss how clergy wrestled with loyalty, rebellion, and their faith in the years around the American Revolution - and what that might mean for Episcopalians today. Then, we'll talk about whatever else is on our hearts and minds.
Join us at Northside Social in Falls Church (205 Park Ave., Falls Church, VA 22046) on September 16 from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
...and if you'd like to help St. John's bring a Theology on Tap series to Centreville, contact Fr. Kevin.

First Reading: Exodus 32:7-14

Response: Psalm 51:1-11
The Psalmist turns to a loving God for forgiveness, for a clear conscience and a renewed spirit.
Second Reading: 1 Timothy 1:12-17
Paul witnesses to God’s grace, giving his testimony as evidence that God forgives and transforms anyone who is willing to submit to the truth of God in Christ.
Gospel: Luke 15:1-10
Each person and each soul has inestimable worth to God; Jesus uses this parable to remind listeners that quantity is not more important than quality.

Saint of the Week: Elie Naud
Elie Naud left France when the Edict of Nantes, which provided a measure of religious freedom to Huguenots like him, was revoked. He fled first to Saint-Domingue and then to Boston. Captured by a French privateer in 1692, the "fugitive French Protestant” was sentenced to life as a galley slave and then imprisoned before being freed as an English subject. Back in North America, Naud converted to Anglicanism and became an important teacher to indigenous and enslaved peoples.
Read more about him here.

Help the Shepherd's Center of Western Fairfax
St. John's has three volunteers supporting the Shepherd's Center of Western Fairfax. They provide rides to people who are over 50 and and can no longer drive by offering driving services to:
- the WFCM Food Pantry
- Medical & Dental Appointments
- Therapy Services
The Shepherd's Center needs additional drivers and support for local seniors. They've had to turn down a number of recent requests because of a lack of volunteers.
To assist, you must live in western Fairfax County in or around Clifton, Centreville, or Chantilly. For more information and to volunteer, visit the Shephed's Center here.
