Always Use Your Best China

Rev. Charlie Dieterich

Where do you find beauty? In ancient vases displayed in museums? In distant national preserves? Perhaps beauty is written on subway walls . . . or is it truth? Our service will address this month's theme, Nurturing Beauty, along with the Memorial Day theme of loss and lamentation. Come contemplate the future as we reflect on the past.

Meditation I: Mindfulness and the 8th Principle (part 2)
Sundays, 8:30 a.m.9:45 a.m. Zoom Meeting ID: 813 7503 7090
How can mindfulness, loving-kindness meditation, and other forms of contemplative practice help us in dismantling institutionalized racism? What can Buddhism teach about effective ways to do the inner work to actualize our proposed 8th Principle?

This Sunday, we will continue our conversation about racism in our society after listening to a second Dharma talk by Valerie Brown on white supremacy, white fragility, and unconscious bias, and how meditation may help us fight injustice with inner calm and strength.

Valerie Brown, a Quaker of Afro-Cuban descent, is an ordained Dharma teacher in the Plum Village tradition of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. She is also a former lawyer-lobbyist and lives in New Hope. Our program will begin with a brief centering and introductions followed by the talk, discussion, and a longer, silent meditation. All are welcome. Terry Dixon will facilitate.
Meditation II
