Dear UUC Friends,
We are saddened to say, that on Tuesday evening, our beloved John passed away. He was in the comfort of his home and surrounded by family when he took his last breath. Just two days prior he was happily cracking jokes and talking politics, however, cancer, and a series of infections, took their toll. He was in at-home hospice care and comfortable.
Please know that John cherished his friendships with you. We are planning a celebration of his life, via Zoom, in early December. We would love for you to join us. We are in discussion with Rev. Dave about the best time. We will send you details later.
We are deeply grateful for the support that many of you gave us in John’s last days, and continue to give us as we grieve and attend to the many tasks facing us. We have been uplifted by your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely yours,
Sandy

Open Issues: November 15, 2020
This Sunday at Open Issues you are invited to come discuss our desires for America. How do we want the United States to be seen in the world? What do we want to accomplish? What do we want to leave future generations? What are our priorities?
Let's talk about what we want to be - not what we want to leave behind. Find a positive way to frame each of your desires.

REMEMBERING SAM HALL...
One of our former section leaders, Sam Hall, passed away earlier this week in Ohio. Sam served as a tenor section leader and soloist at UUC from 2018-2019. He was beloved by all of us. In 2019, he and his wife Lucricia decided to move back to Ohio to be closer to their children. He will be greatly missed. May his memory be for a blessing.
If you wish to send a card to Sam's family, you may do so at:

Loss, Transition, and Grief
The theme for our transition work in November/December is healing. Healing from the many losses, both personal and congregational, that you have experienced in your recent history. Rev. Roberta and the Transition Team (Mark Brandt, Linda Stoller, and Mike Kahn) invite you to participate in a carefully structured and facilitated small group exploring loss, transition and grief.
You can sign up for a session using the Doodle Poll:

TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE AT UUC
We are all disappointed that, thanks to COVID, we are not going to have the Mitten Tree this year. However, we can still help our local children celebrate the holiday season. UUC has been accepted as a Toys for Tots Drop-Off site. The Couples Covenant Group is sponsoring Toys for Tots on behalf of UUC.
Since 1947, the mission of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.
Toys will be collected at UUC from 1:00-3:00 PM on the following dates:
Tues Dec 1; Sat Dec 5; Tues Dec 8; Sat Dec 12.
We accept toys for children aged 0 to 12. All toys must be new and unwrapped. In particular, there is usually a shortage of toys for children age 0-1 and 9-12.
Please participate in this joyful opportunity.

We are in need of Worship Associates. As you can imagine, doing Zoom services has put a particular strain on this group. If you are interested in volunteering as a Worship Associate, please contact Sue Boone [email protected] or Margie Manning [email protected] to learn more about what it means to help with our worship services.

Join us for Digital Coffee Hour this Sunday (November 15, 2020) right after Sunday's Service. It's located in the same Zoom meeting as the service.

A Message from the Care Circle
“11” What, if anything, does that number mean to you? The eleventh month of our calendar, with days set aside to remember our Veterans and giving thanks? The month of weather changes, harvests, planting winter crops?
In my reading, I have learned that most religions have a significant meaning for the number 11; also, in numerology, the number 11 represents higher ideals, refinement, vision, fulfillment, invention, balance...it is the peacemaker.
I look at those two digits...they remind me of goal posts. Things to dream and plan, to take actions on and hopefully see come to fruition, and learn from.
May you be well, remain curious and seek your 11!
-- Eloise
Please remember if you’ve had an illness or injury and need help with any short-term assistance from our Care Circle, or even just someone to call and check in on you, please contact one of the co-chairs (Susan Hegner or Eloise Hardman) or call the UUC office at (727) 531-7704.

Spiritual Potpourri is a new group of people gathering together at 1pm on Fridays to share different practices that are feeding our souls right now. Chair yoga ... new "tiny" habits... meditation ... we look forward to learning from each other and trying new things.
For tomorrow, how about we revisit the topic of inspiring writings/sharings for those who could not get on? And then we will transition to the topic of healing... This happens to be part of the Soul Matter's monthly theme this month, and I know this weighs heavily on us all these days. Perhaps you are exploring this topic from other sources? Please come ready to share.
Please bring your thoughts/ideas on this challenge of the moment... maybe how you feel personally about how to heal the divides amongst us? locally and more expansively? Feel free to reflect on this coming from a very individual space or nationally? Maybe we can't solve the world Friday, but perhaps provide a hint about how to open the door?
If there is anything you would like screen shared, just let me know, and send it beforehand...or the time of the meeting, via email.
Since the Times Festival of Reading is going on virtually, I think it would be great to talk about what sessions people are going to!
If you have trouble logging in please let Kathy Krohn know.
Everyone is welcome, always.
--> Contact Kathy Krohn if you have questions or trouble logging in! Hope you can join us!

RACIAL JUSTICE GROUP
Racial Justice Articles
You may have noticed that the Racial Justice Group took a break for a few weeks from submitting articles to the E-O. You probably won't be surprised that the election was sucking out all our energy. Now it is (more or less) over so we are back on track. Look forward next week to an article by Joe Myers on The GI Bill and its racist repercussions.
Also, please check out the Social Justice section of UUC's website ( https://www.uuc.org/social-justice). All of our recent articles have been posted there, so that you can continue to reference them.
If you have any interest in authoring any other articles under the Social Justice umbrella, please reach out to Chris Mueller ( [email protected]) or Susan Allen ([email protected]).
