What a joy it was to open the service Sunday with the baptism of Sal Mistretta (son of Katie Kirkland). Mendy Miltier then directed our Kids Choir as they led us in worship through music. Ethan Wilson then gave us an overview of the teaching and worship sessions from the Children’s DNOW, and spoke to us from God’s word on the living hope we have in Jesus. Wow – what a day!
This service was a great way to cap an awesome weekend that was so important in the spiritual development of our children. Thank you, Lori Replogle, for planning and preparing such a meaningful time for the children. Thank you, also, to Ethan Wilson (event pastor / teacher), Amanda Cloy (activities), Mendy Miltier (baked goodies), Youth Praise Band, and all the youth and others who helped in any way to make this weekend such a success!
Please pray now for Rhys and all the adult workers who will be involved in our youth DNOW this coming weekend. This is one of the two largest events we sponsor for our youth. Please ask God’s blessing on this weekend, April 1-3, and everyone involved. Luke Johnson, who preached here on January 23rd, will be the camp speaker, and will preach this Sunday morning in both services.
This coming Tuesday, April 5th, is our next Senior Luncheon. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Daniel Hall. Daniel is the Director of our Mississippi Baptist Foundation, and is also the son-in-law of the late Dr. Billy K. Smith. Dr. Smith was a long-time professor at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and also wrote the New American Commentary edition on Amos, Obadiah, and Jonah. Dr. Smith’s wife, Irlene, was one of the founding members of our The Loving Stitchers sewing ministry. Ms. Irlene will accompany Daniel on Tuesday. Our Senior Adult Ministry is open to all adults, age 55 and older. Please mark your calendar!
Finally, please be aware that on this Sunday, April 3rd, at 5:00pm, there will be a Special Business meeting in which our Concept Committee will present their proposal for the construction of a gym. Please don't miss this presentation. You need to hear the presentation to have all of your questions answered and to be able to pray in an informed way. The vote will then be on April 24th.
Thank you so much for your prayers and concern for Janice as she underwent surgery this past Thursday. She is facing a recovery period of several weeks, but seems to be doing better every day. Your prayers, cards, texts, phone calls, and delicious meals have meant so much to both of us. We are so blessed to be a part of the family of God at RPBC!
You are loved!
Dan
