What a precious time of worship we experienced yesterday! Thank you to all the guys who served in the cast of the Living Lord’s Supper, and to all who had a part in setting up, decorating, or who participated in any way. A special thank you goes to Bro. Brad for planning, preparing, recruiting, scripting, and participating in the presentation. We are blessed to have so many who are willing to step up when called upon.
Prayer Tents were distributed in the Bulletins yesterday to serve as reminders to pray for the upcoming vote (April 24th) on constructing a gym. We have waited a long time to come to this point. This gym will have an immediate impact on many of our numerous activities and events, for all age groups. In addition, we have before us a tremendous opportunity to leave a great legacy to the many children and teenagers who are active in our programs now, and for those who will come in the years ahead.
We are still worshipping in a sanctuary that was completed in 1955. Our children and preschool departments still operate out of a building that was completed in 1964. Our youth, as well as several of our adult Sunday School classes still meet in a building that was completed in 1975. And, our staff offices, Welcome Center, some adult Sunday School classes, and our fellowship hall are all still contained in a building that was completed in 1990. It has now been more than 30 years since we have entered into a major building project. In that 30 years we have purchased property, remodeled much of our facility, and even established a worship center for our Spanish congregation. Yet, through all of these years we have talked about the need for a gym, but have not sensed that God’s timing had come. I believe that time is NOW. If this is God’s will for us, however, it must be affirmed through our vote on April 24th. Please pray that our vote will be united and a clear revelation of what God would have us do - yes or no.
Both of our local school districts are on Spring Break this week. Therefore, we will not have any services or activities this Wednesday evening, April 13th. This is to give those who work with our children and youth on that night, a little break while so many of our students and their families are out of town. However, parents, don’t forget the children’s Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 16th, at 10:00am! And, our choir will perform a mini-Easter cantata this Sunday.
He is Risen!
