The Memorial Day service is not one I particularly look forward to each year. I think that is because to me, it is similar to a funeral. Through the service we are honoring the memory of those whose sacrifice means so much to us. Yet, it is sad that they have passed from this life. Also, like a funeral, we don’t conduct a Memorial Day service because it is fun and exciting, but rather because we have a responsibility to honor and remember. And, like a funeral, a Memorial Day service provides a degree of closure, in that as we are reminded of our national blessings, which include “certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,” we are also reminded that the lives lost were not given in vain. On behalf of a people who treasure our God-given liberties, we offer our appreciation for the honorable and faithful service of these heroes.
June is going to be a busy, but exciting month. Included in this month will be our Youth Camp (Centrifuge, June 20-25) and VBS (June 27-July 1). Kicking off the month will be Kids Camp at Waukaway Springs next week! How can you be a part of all these ministry opportunities? I’m glad you asked! We still need donations for bus rental and camp scholarships for our youth, and volunteers, cookies, Kool Aid and snacks for VBS. Experience God by finding where He is working, and join Him in the work!
This past Sunday was our target date for donations toward building our gym. However, there are still some donations coming in this week. We are going to wait until next Sunday, June 5th, to announce the tally on donations received. If you have not yet given, it is not too late. Give as if it all depends upon us, and pray as if it all depends upon God!
To God Be All the Glory!
