Sunday was another awesome day of worship! We enjoyed singing a couple of the songs we sang during the revival services. We also rejoiced in receiving Billy and Linda Sheffield at the 8:30 service into our RPBC family, upon promise letter. God is good!
As I introduced a new sermon series entitled, “Journey to the Center of Your World: Developing a God-Centered Worldview,” I challenged us to evaluate our mindset (worldview) to determine if it was worldly or Spiritual. In order to strengthen our foundational convictions so that our new nature wins out in the conflicts we encounter with our old nature, we need to incorporate Spiritual disciplines in our daily lives that will enable us to maintain a Spiritual focus and experience victorious Christian living.
One important discipline is to engage in a mentoring relationship. If you would like to have someone be a mentor to you, OR if you are willing to be a mentor to someone else, please let me know. I will help match you with someone who could become one of the most important people in your life!
This Sunday, RPBC members present in either of the 2 services will be given an opportunity to nominate 4 men to serve a 3-year term as deacon, replacing 4 men who are rotating off the active body. This is such an important ministry in the church. Our deacon body continuously exhibits servants’ hearts. Perhaps more than any group of deacons I have ever served with, their first thoughts are always to minister to the needs of this church. From devotions, to prayer time, to Widow Ministry reports, their meetings are focused on the true role of deacons. Please be in prayer this week as you prepare to nominate faithful men to serve.
Don’t forget the Alan Sibley and the Magnolia Ramblers concert this Saturday, October 2nd at 6:00pm in the Sanctuary. What a great time to fellowship and enjoy gospel bluegrass this will be!
Finally, thank you, RPBC family, for supporting our revival services with your attendance and giving. The attendance in all of the services was outstanding, and you provided a generous love gift to the revival team. I can’t remember revival services in which the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit was so sweet and consistent. The services have ended, but the work is only beginning. Press forward in allowing holiness to grow in your life!
I give thanks to my God every time I remember you (Phil. 1:3),
Dan
