The Family Fall Festival Committee has recommended that we not have our annual Family Fall Festival this year. Instead, they have been working on an outdoor church-wide fall fellowship for Saturday, November 13th. It is being called a Tailgate Fellowship! It will still feature lots of games and activities for the children, but will also have plenty of food and fun for all ages. To make it just a little more interesting, the Committee is creating a tailgate theme that will function nicely with all of our college football rivalries. Folks, we have not had a major church-wide fellowship in 2 years. We are due, and I am excited! I hope you are too, and that you will make plans to be here, November 13th, 5:00 – 7:00pm!
Some people in the world today ask, “If God is good, why is there so much evil in the world?” That can be a complicated question to ponder, even for theologians. The answer really comes down to the character of God. Is God good, or does God have flaws? This Sunday we will continue with our series on a God-Centered Worldview as we examine the character of God. I hope you will join us!
Former LifeWay president and CEO, Thom Rainer, offers a lot of insights into the unique problems facing pastors and their churches over the past 2 years of COVID. One observation reported by Church Answers Featuring Thom Rainer, is that those who only attended on average every other Sunday before COVID, now only attend once every 3 or 4 Sundays. Worse is their projected statistic that 20% of a church’s attending members prior to COVID will never come back! It seems to me that the biggest problem facing the church today is not COVID, but APATHY. It is amazing to me that so many people suffer from apathy at a time when the church of America is facing some of the greatest challenges that have confronted us in the time we have been a nation. The morals of our nation are crumbling. States are battling over the right to slaughter children in the womb, and LGBTQ+ rights outweigh the Bible, science, common sense, and the rights of parents over their children. All of the major theologians of our time seem to agree that prophecy is unfolding before our eyes, and we are living in the end times. Shouldn’t all of that drive Christians to run to church rather than stay away? The church needs to reclaim our Spiritual disciplines and do things because they are the right things to do, rather than follow the world’s example and doing the things that our lusts tell us we want to do. The cure for APATHY is FAITH.
See you Sunday!
