From the Pastor
We continue to see a great work of God as Chuck Ladner was baptized in the 11:00am service Sunday. His longtime friend, David Smith, pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church, had the honor of baptizing him. Chuck had come forward at the invitation during the 11:00 service the week before. He responded to my questions saying he had been saved, but wanted to "make sure." I scheduled a time for him to come to my office. After presenting the gospel to Chuck, I said, "You are either saved and feel guilt over sin, or you are lost. Which is it?"  He responded, "I'm lost." Then, he prayed one of the most powerful prayers of repentance and surrender I've ever heard!

Romans 1:16 says, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes..."  Salvation is a work of God, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Salvations cannot be generated with stirring music and eloquent sermons. The more we pray, the more we see the power of God at work. Please pray for our services, the lost in our community, and those who will be present on Sunday. Then, come and see what God is going to do!

Just a reminder that we are hosting IMPACT Training for Mississippi Baptists in region 5 (eighteen counties in southeast Mississippi). This is training for pastors, church staff, and volunteer leaders of adults, youth, children, and preschool. This is a great training event for our church and a great opportunity to shine! The schedule is as follows:

  • 6:00        Worship (to be led by our own Ethan Wilson)
  • 6:10        Keynote Speaker (Dr. Jamie Dew, President of NOBTS)
