Thank you for allowing Janice and me to be away for a few days’ vacation time. Times of refreshing are important, but we missed being here with you! I also want to thank Robin Martin and Austin Mason for filling in for me in the pulpit. Both did amazing jobs!
Just in case you miss the announcement elsewhere, please note that the early service will move back to 8:30am this coming Sunday. We have some of our adult Sunday School classes who have begun to meet for Sunday School, and the youth will begin to meet for Sunday School this coming Sunday. The 8:30 and 11:00 schedule will give them more time to get to and from. Please note that not all adult classes are meeting (You can check with the church office if you are not sure whether your class is meeting.). Also, the preschool and children classes are not meeting.
Dr. Jamie Dew, the new president of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, will be our guest speaker on Sunday, August 16th. I am excited he was able to fit us into his schedule, and for those able to attend, let’s pack the house (in a COVID-era manner of speaking)!
I will begin a new sermon series this Sunday on Being the Church. I mentioned recently that with livestream services, there has never been an easier time to “go” to church. But, with the challenges of COVID-19 restrictions, there has never been a harder time to “be” the church. The COVID pandemic has altered people’s lives in many unforeseen ways that include church ministry. However, nowhere does the Bible make exceptions for believers “being” the church. Please plan to join us as God’s word refreshes our understanding of what it means to be the body of Christ!
Again, I want to encourage you to attend services on campus here at RPBC. But, for those who are in the high-risk category for COVID-19, those who must care for someone who is high-risk, those not feeling well or who have cold/flu – like symptoms, and those who are quarantined, please join us for worship via livestream at 11:00am each Sunday. Praise God for the technology that makes this possible!
He Walks with Me and Talks with Me, and Tells Me I Am His Own!
Dan

Honor and Memorialize
a Pearl River County Veteran!
The Picayune veteran’s memorial, located next to City Hall on Goodyear Boulevard, includes brick pavers; each engraved with a veteran’s name, branch of service, rank, and/or dates of service. The first bricks were laid in 1990 at a formal ceremony. This is a fitting and permanent way to honor those who have served our country in one of the branches of the Armed Forces. I was so honored by a church member who purchased a brick for me. Bricks are still available for only $50 per brick. If you would like to honor a veteran in your family, or perhaps a veteran in our church who has been an inspiration to you, please contact City Hall at (601) 798-9770 or James Fleming at (866) 499-1907.
