We began 2021 with a great start as we welcomed Gill Thompson (11:00am drummer) to our faith family! Although there is still much uncertainty surrounding COVID, I see many signs of God at work at RPBC. Bible Drill will be cranking back up soon, and the annual DNOW (Disciple Now) weekend is coming up this month. Certainly COVID has impacted OUR plans for the past year, but none of this came as a surprise to God. So, we can say that God’s plans have not been impacted at all! As we have adjusted to circumstances beyond our control, it has opened the door to new, different, and expanded ministries. We ventured into virtual VBS and Zoom Sunday School (before resuming Sunday School on campus). Through online streaming of a weekly Bible study and our worship services, we are reaching more people than ever before (Note: One woman in California reported that through our streamed services, God has touched her and she has renewed her walk with the Lord!). We have several people making weekly phone contacts from the church roll. And, we have more people involved in our prayer ministry now than before COVID.
As a church we have determined that COVID is not going to cause us to stop using the gifts and resources God has given us to do His kingdom’s work. We have just adjusted and continued to move forward. How about you? If COVID has impacted the way you were accustomed to worshipping, serving the Lord, and ministering to others, have you prayed for Him to show you an alternate path? You know, He may just use these circumstances to guide you in the direction He had planned for you to go all along!
Through this past Sunday, we were still $466 short of our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goal. Whatever is given through this coming Sunday will close the books and be submitted. My prayer is that we will reach and exceed our goal!
I have enjoyed our colder-than-normal winter so far. But, I am already looking forward to spring. I cannot say that I have enjoyed 2020 for the most part. But, I am looking forward to what 2021 has to bring! I hope you will commit to doing great things for God in 2021, and set at least one goal whose sole purpose is to bring glory to God!
To God be the Glory!
