Based out of St. George's Island, we will partner with Lutheran Disaster Response to walk alongside those in the Mexico Beach area, helping to clean up, repair and rebuild. We will also learn how the storm affected the reefs and underwater life with a guided snorkeling tour of those underwater areas. Offered two different weeks - June 23-28 & June 30-July 5. During the June 30-July 5 week, we will enjoy a local 4th of July celebration. Youth are welcome to come on their own or with a group.

Want to make your efforts stretch even further? Do this as a THRIVENT ACTION TEAM!!!! If you are collecting items, open it up to the congregation to give, and then use THRIVENT ACTION TEAM monies to purchase additional items!  Be creative! Contact your own Thrivent Community Engagement Leader, or contact Kathy Emanuelson with Thrivent at 727-733-3911.

IMPORTANT!!

Whether you utilize a THRIVENT ACTION TEAM or not, PLEASE keep track of HOW MANY PEOPLE PARTICIPATED AND HOW MANY HOURS WERE USED to complete your congregational project. Last year, 1,335 people participated. Our goal this year is 1,500 people!!

TAKE PICTURES of your project and bring a couple of them with you to put on our Participation Board.

We also have a way to be engaged in this service project while on site at the Synod Assembly. There will be an area in the Connection Café for people to make cards and write encouraging notes for those who are engaged with the ministry of Community Hope Center of Osceola County. We will also be putting together “kids’ bags” in this area, so stop on by when you have the chance. Finally, we will have on hand people from Community Hope Center to answer any questions you may have or if you want to learn more about this ministry here in Central Florida.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support!

For Your Information
Memoir by Pr. Marjorie Weiss
Marjorie Weiss, a retired Florida-Bahamas Synod pastor, is pleased to announce the publication of her memoir, "Praying on Empty, A Female Pastor's Story," through Citrine Publishing. How does a pastor continue to serve in public ministry when faith has vanished? This is the central question of her book. As one of the early ordained women in our denomination, she traces the roots of her calling as a young woman and the realities of her thirty years in the parish--not all of it pretty--in order to try to see if she can find God again. Or would God find her? Her writing is witty, wrenching, and very honest.
This book is now available through Amazon.

Twitter: follow @fbsynod and #fbsynod2019 for occasional live-tweeting during presentations.

Vimeo: after Assembly, videos from the Assembly will be posted on our Vimeo page. These videos can be downloaded and shared in your congregation.

Guidebook: our guidebook this year is available through the ELCA Organization & Events App. Download the app and search for this year's Assembly guide.

Web site: Guidebook content will also be available on the web site. If you'd be interested in writing a 300-word reflection/blog post on your experience at Assembly, please contact Sr. Michelle Collins (michellec@fbsynod.org).
