Out of God's Abundance - Beyond Feeding the 5,000

Contributed by Pr. Jhon Freddy Corea, Faith Lutheran, Lehigh Acres

YOU are PART of God’s PLAN
       God’s Word, Our Voice!
       “God’s work. Our hands”

You have read stories from long ago of The Feeding Of The 5,000 with just a couple of fish and a few loaves of bread. We want to share with you what “Our Hands” are doing together in a little town called Lehigh Acres, FL.

Last year, our area was hard hit by Hurricane Irma. Faith Lutheran / Comunidad de Fe opened our doors and our hands to receive and share God’s abundance with our community. Over the next two months, God provided miraculous amounts of water, ice, cooked and uncooked food, personal hygiene products and house cleaning supplies. But The Feeding Of The 5,000 did not stop there; God opened a year-round Food Pantry, where people have come to continue being fed by God’s love.

Bishop Eaton Column in Living Lutheran

We are the branches: In her August column for Living Lutheran, Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton, asks, “Is it possible to be Lutheran and an ecumenist?”
Yes, of course. For we are “scripturally, confessionally and even constitutionally wired to be an ecumenical church.”

Living Forward with Joy and Peace

November 9-11, 2018  $135
Living into the second half of life brings about a desire for self-renewal. We want to ensure our life is moving forward. Every age and stage brings us closer in relationship to God and community. Come for an enriching and inspiring weekend while enjoying the beauty and peace of Luther Springs. Canoe Vause Lake, walk the trails, relax in a rocker with a book, and explore how God is calling you to serve Him in the second half of life. We'll explore Biblical foundations about this life-stage, enjoy meaningful discussions, sing hymns, exercise our creativity, make new friends, eat wonderful meals, and enjoy nature!

Renewed Campus Ministry in Jacksonville
Jacksonville Campus Ministry has kicked off a new semester at University of North Florida and we couldn't have done it without the help of our church partners! After a year of being dormant, the ministry is celebrating a healthy new start with new and returning students.

Stewardship Resources
Fall is often a time when congregations do a brief emphasis on stewardship as they prepare the budget and program plan for the following year. Although stewardship is most effective when it is emphasized throughout the year in a variety of ways, below are a few budget-specific stewardship resources for congregations to be aware of:

If you have used stewardship campaign materials that you really enjoyed, or have materials you'd be willing to share with other congregations, please email Michelle Collins (michellec@fbsynod.org) to share your resources.
