Help shape SaskCulture's programs |
SaskCulture is kicking off the consultation phase of its Funding Program Renewal Project.
To lead this process, SaskCulture has enlisted the expertise of Ivy + Dean Consulting and Common Ground Consulting in partnership with AML Consulting. These teams will be reaching out on SaskCulture's behalf to different stakeholders to get a better understanding of community funding needs. By taking part in this process, you will help create a more inclusive and effective cultural funding system. Read more

The new year brings changes to SaskCulture’s staff team. Busayo Osobade, who previously held the position of Communications Consultant, will step into the role of Incoming Communications Manager in February 2025. She will work alongside longtime Communications Manager Diane Ell before officially taking on the full role in April 2025, after Diane’s retirement and departure.
Before her role as Communications Consultant, in charge of Culture Days and other SaskCulture communications channels, Busayo held both Coordinator and Assistant positions within SaskCulture’s Communications team. She brings valuable expertise and a deep understanding of the organization’s work.

MIF-Project Funding open for applications | |
The Multicultural Initiatives Fund (MIF) – Project is now open with two funding levels. Starting this funding round, applicants can apply for either the Small Projects category (up to $5,000) or the Major Projects category (up to $15,000). MIF-P aims to support cultural projects that advance ethnocultural, multicultural, First Nations, Métis, intercultural or cross-cultural activities in Saskatchewan. Applications are open until April 1.

New survey aims to improve support for newcomer artists | The Artbridge Artist Survey aims to gather information to better empower newcomer artists in the province. As part of the Artbridge Newcomer Artists Research Project, this survey is a first step in building connections between newcomer artists, arts organizations, and immigration services. Submissions are open until April 1. This pilot project is led by CARFAC Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance. Read more | From February 2 to 8, people can join events across the province to celebrate the province's rich heritage and the work that has gone into ensuring its preservation. This year's Archives Week is a special celebration for Saskatchewan, as it marks the 20th annual Archives Week hosted by the Saskatchewan Council for Archives & Archivists, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan. Read more | artsvest Regional returns to SK, offers matching funds for sponsorships | artsvest Regional is open for applications from Saskatchewan-based organizations until February 19. As part of Business / Arts’ signature mentorship and training program, artsvest Regional aims to build capacity in the area of sponsorship for arts, culture, and heritage organizations. The regional program equips organizations with tools to attract and retain corporate partners. It also offers matching fund incentives for new sponsorship dollars raised. Read more | Few arts and culture organizations commit to net-zero emissions | Only one in seven organizations in the arts, heritage, and entertainment sector have committed to net-zero carbon emissions, according to a Hill Strategies analysis. While the sector aligns with Canadian averages, it lags behind industries such as Information & Cultural Industries and Finance & Insurance. However, arts organizations lead in key environmental practices, including waste reduction (58%), reducing energy (51%), and encouraging employees to adopt environmentally friendly practices (41%). African-Canadian Black History Month | |
Every year in February, African-Canadian Black History Month is an invitation to learn about African-Canadian experiences, commemorate the significant events that have contributed to the story of Black communities in Canada, and celebrate the legacy and achievements of African-Canadians.
For 2025, the theme for African-Canadian Black History Month is “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations”.

This webinar will introduce you to the volunteer management cycle, a best practice model for the lifecycle of volunteer engagement. Strengthening community pride and connection through storytelling

Recognizing the importance of storytelling as a way to strengthen cultural connection and nationhood within the Métis community, Gabriel Dumont Local 11, began an annual storytelling series in 2017. As the series continued, many of the people who attended formed stronger connections and friendships as a result. Read more
