Thanksgiving Worship Opportunities
English Lutheran Church is offering two worship opportunities on Thanksgiving Eve this year. Choose one or both as you prepare for Thanksgiving.

Night Prayer for Thanksgiving Eve with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church is Wednesday, November 25, 6:30pm. Click here to access OSLC's live-stream page and worship bulletin.

On the Eve of Thanksgiving, please join Pastor Becky Goche and Pastor Joanne Richmond at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for a live stream worship service. This service, called 'Compline' or 'Night Prayer,' will be quiet and reflective. We will sing and learn about the song, “A Place at the Table.”

Following Compline, there will be a brief pause in worship to set the table for communion. We invite you, if you wish to commune at your home, to have wine/juice and bread prepared for those who are receiving. You may pick up at home communion kits in ELC's parking lot entry between 9am-12pm Monday through Friday.

“A Season of Thanks” Worship Service is at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 25. Click here to access ELC's YouTube channel.

The La Crosse Area Synod Hunger Subcommittee recorded this special service lifting up work to help end world hunger. The service highlights several congregations from our Synod and includes contemporary music and a special message from Bishop Jim Arends. English Lutheran raised nearly $3,700 earlier this year to support the synod's Barn Project. Click here for a worship bulletin to follow along with this service.

English Lutheran's office is closed on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

November's Community Conversation
Living in a time of COVID-19: Where have we been? Where are we today? And what has it revealed about our community? Join us for Community Conversations on Wednesday, November 18 at noon on ELC's YouTube channel.

As the Covid-19 pandemic hit the United States in early March, Jen Rombalski, the Health Director of La Crosse County Health Department and her team began to plan for how to respond to this new threat. Jen will share how the health department has worked to address COVID. Brenda Rooney, ELC member and co-director of Population Health and health promotion activities for Gundersen Health System, will share what we have learned about who has been hit the hardest, and how addressing these issues will improve the overall health of our community. Click here for more information.
Scrip Gift Card Fundraiser
We are still selling Scrip gift cards for our youth to fundraise for their next trips and retreats (whenever those may be!). You can contact the church office to see what is in stock. We'll get your cards ready and then arrange for you to pick up and pay.

If you wish to start thinking about Christmas, you can place special orders! Please contact Sarah Herath, our volunteer coordinator, to do so!

Thank you for your continued support of youth programming here at English Lutheran!
Churches Being Targeted
We've received more news regarding scams that are going out to church members.

ELC will NEVER solicit any sort of financial information via personal/staff email or text. No gift cards, money transfers, etc. will ever be asked of our members. If you receive an email, please mark it as 'spam' in your email system and do not reply. For text messages, simply ignore them.

And remember to change your passwords frequently! :)
Online Support Group
An online Cancer Support Group is available to anyone in our congregation who is living with a cancer diagnosis. We meet via Zoom the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 3:30pm. The group is facilitated by Irene TenEyck, our Director of Caring Ministries. Please contact Irene directly at 784-9335, ext. 304 if you are interested in finding our more about the group.
Seekers
Seekers meets each Thursday at 9:30 via Zoom. Contact Kathy to receive a link if you'd like to join this special group! You may click here for a full schedule through the 2020 Holidays.

On November 19th, Mike Schnitzius will continue the discussion on “Disciplines for the Inner Life.”
Warming Center Needs
The La Crosse Warming Center is open through April 30th. The Warming Center provides a place for individuals who are living in homelessness to have a warm place to sleep overnight, shower, do laundry, and get a meal. As was done last year, the first two Fridays of each month are "Lutheran Night." A number of local ELCA churches are working together to staff those two Friday nights, and provide food for dinner. Orientation and training is provided. Click here for more information. You may also talk with Irene. Please consider helping to fill this need.
