We are thankful for the favorable COVID conditions in our community over the last months. Given the low COVID risk, we will no longer be reminding people to check the CDC COVID risk level before attending worship service or other ELC events. Per CDC guidelines face masks will remain optional at English Lutheran Church and announcements will be made in the event of any change.

If you're experiencing cold and flu-like symptoms, it's still a good idea to stay home and help keep our community healthy. Masks continue to be provided for those who wish to wear one. Please recognize that many are still careful as they are immunocompromised; if you see someone masked, keep safe distance, and have open conversations about where everyone's comfort level is.
The Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), has announced the launch of the ELCA's Truth and Healing Movement. The focus of the initiative is to increase the church's understanding of the impacts of colonization on Indigenous people in past generations and in the present.

As we look more closely at the ELCA Truth and Healing movement, this week we focus on the experiences of Native people being “Fully Lutheran and Fully Native.” Click here to read more!

The 2023 Synod Assembly will be held June 9-11. This year the Tangible Offering for the Assembly will be socks, underwear, and bras to restock local clothing closets. ELC will be collecting these items until June 8th so that our delegates can take them to the June 11th Assembly Worship Service at Riverside Park to join the donations of other synod churches. Bins are available in the narthex for your donations. Items donated can be for adults or children and should be new and in the original packaging.
With the help of the church office staff, a Reconciling in Christ banner has been included on ELC's website. The RIC banner rotates regularly so “click” on the banner to learn more about RIC. As noted, ELC is still discerning whether to become an RIC congregation. The information on the banner describes RIC, provides a timeline of events leading up to our decision, identifies team members, and offers resources for your review.

Please contact any of the team members with your comments, questions, and concerns.
For the ways in which he lives out his kind and gentle faith through everyday service to his community, the Wartburg College Alumni Board is pleased to present a 2023 Young Alumni Award to the Rev. Dan Hanson. While an undergraduate, Hanson was a noted faith leader among students, welcoming new people into campus ministry. He spent summer breaks at three different Lutheran Bible camps and completed numerous service trips while at Wartburg. Read more here.

Pastor Dan completed his internship here at English in 2014-15. He now serves as pastor of spiritual growth at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, Iowa.
