During the next few weeks we are highlighting some of the ministries of the ELCA for individuals with disabilities. This is the last installment of highlighting some of the ministries of the ELCA for individuals with disabilities. Soreo, a service of Mosaic, understands that you or your loved one want to continue living at home for as long as possible. It’s both convenient and comfortable to receive support in a familiar environment. Soreo’s mission is to provide aging adults the in-home supports they need to remain independent. English Lutheran is hiring! Join our fun, dynamic team and work with some of the best Lutherans around.
The Children's Ministry Coordinator will facilitate the ways in which parents, sponsors, and the members of ELC can live into the promises made at baptism, providing a good start at living a life of worship, encountering God’s Word, teaching children about Jesus, and nurturing a life of faith, working with children and families from birth-6th grade.
The Director of Faith Formation shall nurture meaningful, Christ-centered lives in our children, young people and their families, with a focus on Middle and High School youth and young adults. This person will assist in developing a culture in our congregation that supports growth in faith, discipleship, and fellowship. Click here to learn about open positions!
Winter is "bearable" with our new books!

ELC's Library Committee has new books for you to check out! Stop by the special display in the Fellowship Hall entry. There is self-checkout available, so stop by the display, or the Library at any time to find a good book to curl up with, or new story books for bedtime reading with the kids.
The church's voicemail system has been down and we are currently working with our service provider to get it up and running again. If you have a pastoral care emergency such as a hospitalization, and it's outside of office hours, please use email or feel free to contact our mobile phones if you have those numbers.

No one is untouched by life events that impact our day to day world. The Sunshine Ministry aims to make the search for that new normal a bit easier by offering a meal to those who could use just a little sunshine. If you or another member of our community have experienced a life event, allow us to show you love and care. Contact the church office and request a call from the Sunshine Ministry. The Coordinator will contact you to arrange getting a prepared meal onto your dining room table at your convenience. We are happy to take into consideration dietary needs and other requests.
A "life event" may include anything from a death in the family, birth or adoption of a new child, recent divorce, hospitalization, etc. As we strive to be the hands of God's loving arms, we're looking for volunteers who enjoy sharing their culinary talents. If you are interested in being on the list to prepare and deliver meals, please complete this interest form!
A “New to English Lutheran Church” Gathering is planned for Sunday, February 19, beginning at 12 noon. This gathering is geared for people who are newer to ELC and want to learn more about us. It is also for those who are interested in making ELC their church home and becoming a member. Lunch will be provided. Please contact Carol in the office or one of the pastors to sign-up or for more information.
As part of ELC’s commitment to support Monday Ministries at Trinity Lutheran, we hope some of our members will volunteer on Monday evenings. Currently MM needs helpers in the Food Pantry from 3:00- 5:30pm. Volunteers will help unload food from vehicles, transfer food to the pantry, unpack and sort food, and then fill bags for distribution. This means you will have to do some lifting. If you are interested in being part of this ministry, or helping with the clothes closets or the Monday meal program, a sign-up sheet is available at the Welcome Center, or you can contact the office, Kathy Weeks, or Ann Kvale.
The Annual Meeting of the congregation of English Lutheran Church is Sunday, February 12 at noon.

Voting members are active, confirmed members of the church.

Annual Reports are available at the Welcome Center beginning this weekend, or can be found online.
It's "Soup-er" Bowl Sunday time! Whether you're cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles - or neither team - WAFER Food Pantry wins when you bring in your donations of canned soups or other non-perishable food items by February 12th!
Join us for a Global Missions Variety Show on February 19 at 3:00pm! The La Crosse Area Synod is hosting this fundraiser event for the our companion synod - Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB). All money raised will go towards assisting their mission to help Ukraine refugees. Come see some incredible talent in our area at Trinity Lutheran, 1010 Sill St., La Crosse.
In order to plan activities, we value input from our youth! Join us on Wednesday, February 8th from 5:00- 6:10pm (before Confirmation) for students to brainstorm and discuss some ideas to take to the Youth Steering Committee for planning. We will have a pizza dinner, and will need high schoolers to RSVP, so we can plan accordingly for food.
We will then have a Youth Steering Committee Meeting on Wednesday, February 15 from 5:00-6:10pm to plan activities for the next few months as well as discuss the future direction/goals of the youth activities (mission trips, service projects, activities, etc.). If there are high schoolers who want to join the Youth Steering Committee, please contact Laura Eber.
La Crosse Area Synod is offering A Study for Lent: "Church & State" on Sunday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 pm via ZOOM (Feb. 26 - Apr. 2).

Join Pastor Joanne Richmond of the synod Church in Society Committee in this study regarding the relationship between faith and nation, church and state, which exists in each of us while simultaneously being lived "out" in our daily lives. The purpose of this study is to engage in conversations about citizenship in the context of Lutheran thought, most specifically a Lutheran understanding of baptism, with the hope of relieving any confusion we experience as we live as baptized children of God. Read more here. Registration required for ZOOM link and for ongoing preparatory info: [email protected] / 608-788-5000.
