LIMITED IN PERSON WORSHIP IS BACK! We are so excited to be back as a church family again! You must pre-register to attend. We will always live-stream our Sunday morning service.

Office hours are extended! We're here to help from 8:30-1:00 Mon-Thurs and 8:30-noon on Fridays.

Small groups are meeting in the building. Contact Jennifer or Niki to get on the schedule. Meetings should be cleared by staff to ensure time to sanitize and clear air flow between groups.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we journey together safely through the COVID pandemic. Feel free to contact the Re-Opening team with questions/concerns: David Bleidorn, Mary Mueller, Brenda Rooney, Mark Flaten, Karl Green, Jennifer Jones, Pastor Bickford, Pastor Goche.
This weekend is Pentecost! Wear red to celebrate. Many ELCA worshipers wear red on the festival of Pentecost, recalling the red of the flames of the Holy Spirit. Wear red as a sign that the Holy Spirit comes to all the believers, not just the leaders of community.

In the church year, the day of Pentecost is the culmination of the 50 days of the Easter celebration. After showing himself to the disciples and after having ascended, Jesus’ followers received the promised gift of the Holy Spirit.

On the fiftieth day of Easter, our Lutheran worship is filled with festivity, color, and movement as we both conclude the Easter celebration and welcome anew the gift of the Holy Spirit.
We were nominated for River Valley Reader's Choice Favorites again this year! Go in and give us your vote (and scroll through the categories for your other favorite places!). Pick "Places to Go and Do" and scroll down to "Best Place to Worship." Our community has so much to offer. What a list to be part of!

Phone-in devotions will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Call 608-784-8876 ext. 203 to listen in. Our staff will be sharing devotions from some of our favorite sources, so you'll get a little bit of everything!

The Transition Team would like to meet with church members. They are looking for more feedback - this time regarding mutual expectations for the next pastor. There will also be a chance to share other thoughts regarding what is needed for the next Senior Pastor. There will be five locations/rooms within our building for meetings after church services, and each meeting is limited to six people (plus a facilitator):

  • June 5 & 6
  • June 12 & 13

Each meeting should be 30-45 minutes in length. Click here to sign up, or call Jennifer at 784-9335.

Also, we remind you to send names for nominations to the Senior Pastor Call Committee to Adam Hatfield, Secretary of our Vision Board.
Join us on Facebook or YouTube at 7:00 pm each Wednesday! Our ELC Weekly is a livestream update on what's happening around church.

So far, we've had Pete Bemis join us to talk about Bethlehem Event. Irene TenEyck updated us on how ministry changed during COVID. Brenda Rooney shared about the Re-Opening Team and opening for worship. Julie Kriewald & Kathy Hagseth talked about the Transition Team and how we're moving forward with the call process for our new Senior Pastor. Chuck Gustafson from the Property Committee talked about our summer projects around the building. Joan Allen and Karen Guptill talked about ministry through Quilting.

This Wednesday, May 26, we'll talk about being connected through technology during COVID with Arthur Karbowski.

New library books are now on display and ready for check-out in the hallway between the narthex and Fellowship Hall. There are many wonderful books to choose from for both adults and children. Select a book (or two) and follow the easy directions for check-out. To return your book, there are two library drop boxes available: one is in the display area and the other is by the church entrance.

So treat yourself and pick up a good book for some well deserved reading! You may come by anytime during office hours, or browse when here for a meeting or small group.
Vacation Bible School is back in-person! It will look a bit different to be COVID-safe. Our programs run Monday-Thursday the week of June 20-24, 2021. We will offer a morning Pre-School program for children ages 3-5/5K, from 9am-11:30am. Our elementary-age program for children entering 1st-6th grades runs from 5:30-8:15pm. Our evening program includes dinner for the whole family!

We are mindful of COVID conditions and will adjust our schedule and spacing as needed for the safest experience for your children.

The cost is $10/child for the week (scholarships are available). All are welcome! You do not need to be a member of English Lutheran to join this energetic week of Bible stories, games, crafts, music, and more! Please complete either the online registration form or use our printable form to mail or drop off at our church office.
Our congregation is partnering with Habitat for Humanity La Crosse Area and Thrivent Financial to complete construction of a Faith Build home for the Olson Family—a local family in need of safe, affordable housing. Help raise funds with the Count the Blessings Calendar - a stay-at-home activity you can do as an individual or family unit. The calendar is designed to involve the entire family in contemplating the people and things that make a home, as well as exploring what those living in insecure housing may experience just to get through every day. Every day, you donate a small amount to the Faith Build home if your home includes any items listed for that day. For example, on Day 5, deposit .30 if you have a living room.

Sunday School families received cardboard houses in the mail. Houses can also be picked up in the entryway of the church. Or to make it really easy, download the calendar and collect change in any container you like. Please drop your change houses off at church by June 6.
Sugar Creek Bible Camp is back to bus trips! Sign up now for "Holiday Inn Christmas Show" at the Fireside Dinner Theater on November 3. Cost is $95 and includes deluxe motorcoach transportation, tickets to the show, a six-course dinner, muffins and coffee on the bus.

Pickups are available in La Crosse, Coon Valley, Westby, Viroqua, Readstown, and Richland Center.

Contact camp at 608.734.3113.

  • June 13 - First Day of Summer Camps!
