Good evening sisters and brothers in Christ!
The Marriage Course is returning to New Covenant! Our first in-person gathering will be Sunday, September 8th. This year we will be charging a $50.00 registration fee per couple. But the meals for each couple will still be free and we will also offer free childcare, provided by some of our Preschool teachers. This is a great opportunity to have some quality time with your spouse and to enjoy some yummy meals that you don’t have to prepare yourself. We are very excited to offer this growth experience. Join us this Sunday and hear more about this opportunity!
Our youth group is going to be meeting at KTR on Sunday to have some fun and enjoy some games after worship (around 12:30 pm – 2:00 PM). We will also be sharing our plans for the youth group for this upcoming year. Yes, on Sundays we will be returning to Black Rock Coffee after worship. And plan for a Confirmation Service to be celebrated on Sunday, October 27th! But this Sunday, join us at KTR after worship!
I remember in college, several fellow students and I were on a Christian outreach team, traveling and performing at churches in California and Arizona for an interim class during the month of January. Imagine that a bunch of college students wanting to leave South Dakota during the month of January! As we drove across intestate 80 into northern California, we came across the Donner Pass. I was not enlightened about the history of this place, but one of my college classmates was. He shared that the Donner party was crossing the pass in a snowstorm and became stranded. Well, they had nor food to eat and they were on the verge of starving, so they began to eat the frozen carcasses of their fellow hikers who had passed away. Not a very pleasant thought and I’m sorry to put it into your mind. But that is what the early Christians were charged with. And our scripture highlights why Christians were charged with this. This Sunday we will be looking at John 6:51-58 and exploring the question, “Are Christians Cannibals?”
I hope to see you this Sunday!
