Good afternoon church!
It is an eventful week for many connected to New Covenant this week and next.
In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites us to cast our worries upon the Messiah: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” This verse reminds us that we don't have to carry the burdens of our busyness alone. We can find rest from the stress and anxiety that we experience by entering into God's presence
Goldie had her heart catheterization procedure to open the narrowing of the arch in her aorta on Tuesday. At first, it seemed to work beautifully, but in the 24 hours following it narrowed again. It will need surgery eventually, but they are hoping for stability over the next few months so she can grow a bit before that is needed. The good news is that she has been released from the hospital and the family is all back home together again! Stephen and Katelyn welcome your prayers of discernment for them and her medical team in determining the timing of next steps for this sweet little one of God.
Tomorrow (Friday), we have 19 Kindergartners graduating and preparing for their move into elementary school in August. Most of these children began their educational experience in our preschool as a two- or three-year old, so this is always a big transition for the children and their families. We will have fun recognizing them and their gifts as we prepare to send them off.
Next Tuesday is our final Family Chapel for the year at 9:00 am. We gather as families and fill the sanctuary with people, songs, and worship. Then on Wednesday we celebrate the last day of school by hosting a picnic for all of the children and their families.
So, you see, there is a lot going on this week. But it is not too busy for us to prepare for Sunday worship. Sunday we will listen to the letter written to the Christian community in Philadelphia – no, not Pennsylvania. Philadelphia in Asia Minor which is in current day Turkey. The Scripture is from Revelation 3:7-13 as we look at the theme, “Philadelphia and Pentecost!” And it is Pentecost this Sunday so join us dressed in red!
