Dear Blackhawk Families,
The first week of school has been fantastic! We're so excited that our Kindergartners have also had a very smooth start to the school year. Here are a few important reminders. Please be sure to pull as far forward as possible in our drop off lane during arrival. This allows more cars to unload at the same time, and makes traffic move faster. If your child arrives after 8:05am, an adult must walk the student into the office and help them sign in. At dismissal, we ask that guardians have a sign with the name and teacher of the student they are picking up. This could make our dismissal even faster!
Please join us for Back-to-School-Night next Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Here is the schedule:
5:30-6:00 -- Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade families visit their homeroom
6:00-6:10 -- All parents and students report to the Gym to meet the CGE staff
6:10-6:40-- 3rd,4th, 5th and 6th grade families visit their homeroom

We "rent" parking spaces in our parking lots to people who are visiting Santa Fe for Indian Market. Here is a link to sign up for a 2 hour shift to direct people to empty spaces and collect money:

A Note From the PTK President:
Hello everyone!
I hope you are doing well and getting back in the swing of school.
I wanted to send out our agenda for our meeting next week, August 21, 2024, at 8:15 am so you all had a chance to review. I have also included the minutes from our July meeting that we will need to approve.
You will also find below the handouts that I will have or discuss in the meeting, so you have an electronic copy as well.
I will start an email group from the email addresses I get on the signup sheets from the August meeting. Please let me know if you want to continue to receive these non-eblast messages and do not attend meetings. Bear with me on getting things organized and me getting comfortable with this new role.
Thank you for your continued support!
Gooooo blackhawks :)

Chess Club for K-6th
Carlos Gilbert has a glorious tradition in chess, having been the dominant team in the Northern league for long periods, and often one of the top teams in the state. Carlos Gilbert's Chess Club has also been a place for lessons and relaxed play on Friday afternoons.
The CGE Chess Club will meet from 1:15-2:45pm after dismissal in the library, starting Friday, August 23rd. Please let your child's teacher know if they will attend Chess Club so the teacher can release them to go to the library at dismissal. Send an email to Mark Galassi mark@galassi.org to get on the list. Students from K-6 are welcome to join! K parents are required to attend; occasional volunteering by 1st-6th grade parents is highly encouraged.
Questions: email mark@galassi.org or telephone +1-505-629-0759 (voice only please).
