NEWS & UPDATES

2024 Calendars Available

2024 calendars are available for a $2 donation that benefits the charitable endeavors of the Society of the St. Vincent de Paul, St. Luke Conference. Calendars will be available in the Pastoral Office until sold out.

Pastoral Office Holiday Schedule

The Pastoral Office will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25, and Tuesday, Dec. 26. There will be no 9:00 am Mass on Dec. 26. The office will be open 8:30 am-1:00 pm on Wednesday, Dec. 27, through Friday, Dec. 29. The regularly scheduled 9:00 am Mass will be held Wednesday-Friday.

New Year’s Schedule: The office will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1. The day is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God (Not observed as a holy day of obligation). Mass will be held at 12 Noon (No 9:00 am Mass).

When to Go to Mass this Weekend!?

This weekend, we have the “dilemma” of back-to-back Mass schedules: The Fourth Sunday of Advent and the Christmas Masses. Both are days of obligation.

There are no “two for one” deals. So…go to an Advent Mass (Saturday Vigil or Sunday morning) and to a Christmas Mass (Sunday afternoon, midnight or Christmas morning.)

First Friday Mass & Adoration

First Friday Morning Mass on Jan. 5 will be held at 9:00 am and 7:00 pm. All are welcome. Adoration will be held 9:00 am-Noon in the Chapel in the Pastoral Office (Closed Noon-1:00 pm). The chapel is also open 1:00-4:15 pm.

Altar flowers for the month of January have been donated by Barbara Rupnick in memory of Esther Tintle. If you would like to donate altar flowers in honor or in memory of someone, please contact the Pastoral Office.

Senior Citizen Bingo & Potluck

The next Senior Citizen Bingo & Potluck is Monday, Jan. 8, at Noon in the Parish Hall. Cards are $3 each or 2 for $5, and they are good for the afternoon. Bingo games will follow lunch. There will also be a 50/50 Raffle. All are welcome! Questions? Contact Joan Sutton at (626) 824-2105.

New Bereavement Support Sessions to Begin

St. Luke Church will be offering an eight-week Bereavement Support Program for those who have lost someone dear beginning Thursday, Jan. 25. The program is open to all faiths.

It is non-threatening, caring and very loving for all. The two-hour sessions will run from Thursday, Jan. 25, through March 14. Sessions are held at 7:00 pm in the Parish Resource Center (located in the Rectory). The only cost involved is $15.00 for the workbook. If you cannot afford the workbook, please call the Pastoral Office at (626) 291-5900. Reservations are required.

Misa en Español

La próxima misa en español es el primer domingo de enero, el 7, 12:30pm (La Epifanía del Señor).

Consider a Year-end Gift to Your Parish

This holiday season, we thank everyone who has supported St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Community this past year with their time, talent and financial contributions, and look forward to support from all of our members in the year ahead.

Please continue to remember your parish in your giving plans, especially if you are considering any charitable donations prior to the end of the year.

Reflect on how you can further support your parish in the coming future as well. These generous gifts will have a direct impact on our parish to help fund the church’s operations and support to our ministries and organizations, faith formation and sacramental programs, and numerous parish activities.
