We continue our journey entering the New Year of 2021 hoping in the fulfillment of the promise celebrated in the coming of the Christ. This past year has been a challenging cross for each of us, and for some, it has taken its toll upon their lives. Following this experience, we have found ourselves on the precipice of deciding how our future will be re-prioritized and new directions plotted.
So, it is with me, as well. After 11.5 years here at St. Luke I have decided to respond to the Holy Spirit in my own life and calling as I approach my 30th Anniversary of Ordination.
I have been called to leave you in good hands and take up the shepherd’s staff in another place with new challenges for growth and ministry. While I cannot yet say where I am being assigned, I know that, like St. Luke, it will be a place of blessing for me. This change will take place by July 1, 2021.
I wish to thank all of you now for the support you have been these past many years. I will continue to uphold you in prayer and ask that you do the same for me. I trust that you will welcome and support your new shepherd who will lead you with different talents and blessings.
With my eventual parting: “continue the journey…”
Blessings of love and prayer, Father Mark

Intercessory Prayer Ministry Welcomes Prayer Requests & Members
The Intercessory Prayer Ministry invites members to pray for those in need. The ministry receives any requests for those needs that require prayer for days, weeks or months. Prayer requests might be related to recovery from or living with cancer, other diseases and sicknesses; recovery from surgery; high-risk pregnancies; or addictions, etc.
Members commit to praying each day for these needs - whatever time fits your schedule. The only requirement is that you have an e-mail address, as all prayer requests will be sent that way once or twice a week. To join or request a prayer, e-mail Angelica at 44angelicafe@gmail.com.

'Drive-thru' Confessions
'Drive-thru' Confessions are offered at 1:00 pm on Saturdays. Please wear a mask and drive through the church parking lot where you will be directed through the back alley to approach one of the priests who will hear your brief confession from outside the passenger side of the car.
If there are multiple people in the car, the passenger/s may exit and stand at a safe distance and we will come to them after hearing the driver’s confession. This is not a prolonged counseling moment: we want anybody who wants a brief confession following these months of lockdown to have the opportunity, so please be prepared and expedient. Please drive out safely through the rear gate onto Live Oak Avenue.

Food Assistance Available for Parishioners in Need
Our St. Luke Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conference wants our parishioners to know that food is available in our St. Luke Food Pantry if you are in need because of your inability to access food during the Covid-19 crisis.
We are very grateful for the food that our generous parishioners have previously donated and though our Pantry Share Days have been temporarily halted, we can still make the food available for our parish family. All our food is shelf stable and does not include fresh produce or foods that require refrigeration.
Please call (626) 684-2914 and one of our SVdP members will make arrangements to deliver or have you safely pick up the food at the Pantry. We continue to pray for all of our generous parishioners and we look forward to the time when we can reopen our doors for our normal distribution.
In keeping with our Vincentian mission to assist those in need in our local community, our conference continues to provide financial assistance for rent, utilities, food and household items during the Covid-19 crisis.

OneLife LA - The Joy of Life!
The mission of OneLife LA is to unite communities and inspire positive action through an annual event that promotes the beauty and dignity of every human life from conception to natural death. This year, that event will look very different. Due to the pandemic, it will be virtual, instead of the usual OneLife LA Walk for Life.
Join the 2021 OneLife LA Virtual program on January 23, 2021 at Noon to connect together in prayer and celebration. OneLife LA speakers, community partners, and musicians will bring the Joy of Life into your home during the one-hour program, presented by OneLife hosts Marcella and JC. Register for OneLife LA 2021 and you will receive information on joining the virtual event.
There are other ways to participate, too. EVANGELIZE in your neighborhood! We have all been spending more time at home, and OneLife LA Home Kits are a way that we can share the Joy of Life in our neighborhoods. Purchase OneLife LA shirts, hats and masks for the family to spread The Joy of Life and OneLife LA’s mission throughout your local community.
Additionally, read the weekly OneLife LA BLOG posts on how to inspire and be light for everyone to live with human dignity at https://onelifela.org/blog/. See past posts on ministry to families of the incarcerated, joy and healing after pregnancy loss, foster care, end of life care, Catholic healthcare resources, and more.
