Mass in Chinese - April 14

We will have a monthly Sunday Mass in (Mandarin) Chinese here at St. Luke Parish beginning Sunday, April 14, at 12:30 pm. Fr. Joseph Yang will be presiding.

We will need volunteers to help as sacristans, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, ushers, musicians, and altar servers. With the help of all Chinese-speaking members in our parish community, let’s make this new development in our parish a success!

LIFE, JUSTICE & PEACE SPOTLIGHT

Happy Easter! Celebrate Life!

The 40 Days for Life 2024 Lenten Campaign has ended. The St. Luke Life, Justice and Peace Ministry extends sincere appreciation for your support of LIFE during the campaign, through your prayers and fasting for an end to abortion. A special thank you to those who witnessed, by your presence and prayers, at the vigil site. The next 40 Days for Life campaign will be in the Fall of 2024.

We sometimes hear from abortion advocates that people who are pro-life only care about ending abortion and do not care about the mother. This couldn’t be further from the truth! As Catholics we are called to embrace, proclaim, and defend ALL LIFE, from conception until natural death. This includes care and concern for the pregnant mother, the mother after the birth of her child, and protection of families.

We continue to pray for a world in which every baby is valued and wanted. Yet, sadly, for some women who become pregnant when their lives are in chaos or they feel they are facing insurmountable challenges, they might misguidedly think that abortion is their only solution. We can help such women and their families by referring them to pregnancy resource centers and pregnancy help centers, which will support them during their pregnancy and beyond.

The Pregnancy Help Center of San Gabriel Valley, 904 E Main St., Alhambra, provides a safe and caring environment where women who may be pregnant or who are pregnant can be supported with dignity during and after pregnancy. The Center provides pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, counseling, and baby supplies. All services are confidential and free of charge.

The current pro-abortion climate prevalent in California is making it increasingly difficult to maintain the Pregnancy Help Center. Evolving regulations, rising operating costs and competition for donations are all factors in this struggle. Pray that the Center will not be forced to curtail their hours or to close their life-affirming Center entirely.

The Pregnancy Help Center asks that you look into your heart and help protect the unborn and support mothers with a monetary donation. You can do this through a periodic gift or by becoming a Center Sustainer with a monthly or quarterly gift. Donations can be made by calling (626) 309-0788 or online via their website at www.pregnancyhelpsgv.com.

“Oh Mary, Mother of Jesus and Mother of Life,

we honor you as Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Thank you for pointing us to Jesus your Son,

the only Savior and hope of the world.

Renew our hope in Him that we all may have

the courage to say YES to life and to defend those children

in danger of abortion. Give us your compassion to reach out to those tempted to abort and to those suffering from a past abortion.

Lead us to the day when abortion will be a sad,

past chapter in our history.

Keep us close to Jesus, the Life of the World,

who is Lord forever and ever.” Amen.

-Prayer from Priests for Life
