Dear members and fellow enrolled agents,

Late last evening I (well, on behalf of NAEA) received a letter from IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig. While we reproduce the email in its entirety below, the key point is that he would like enrolled agents to help the agency spread essential news to those less likely to see or hear it.

We share, for the first time, a special members-only update with a broader list of enrolled agents and tax professionals. Please read Commissioner Rettig’s  words and consider your local network, starting with your clients, then perhaps a board on which you sit, or a volunteer program, or your church/place of worship. We are attaching the information (e-posters and the like) for you to distribute.

One of my favorite reporters includes in his Twitter bio, “There’s a tax angle to everything.” That has never been more true than today.

We are in this together…

Commissioner Rettig Writes NAEA

Please note, in particular, the section highlighted in green (E@lert’s highlight, not Commissioner Rettig’s), in which the commissioner references “zero returns.” The informational e-posters are here  and here . The other informational documents will be posted to NAEA’s coronavirus landing page .
