Congratulations Graduates!

In February, a diverse group of 11 adults successfully completed classroom training with our Essential Employability Skills program and are now gaining valuable work experience in their work placements.

Graduates are currently working in senior care homes across PEI in roles such as caregivers, administrative assistants and activity assistants.

We are now accepting applications for this program. Classroom training begins on April 15th followed by 6-week work placements beginning on May 27th.

The deadline to apply is March 15th.

Social Emotional Learning

We piloted embedding social emotional learning (SEL) into our tutoring sessions with great success. This involved creating and testing a new SEL training piece for tutors as well as purchasing, creating, and testing new SEL tutor resources.

Many students who struggle in school lack the confidence they need to succeed. Practicing social emotional learning in our program builds resiliency, confidence and perseverance which helps students succeed in the classroom and beyond. 

Our evaluations show that SEL has had a very positive impact on children in our program. We heard many great testimonials about how SEL is helping children their learning challenges.

Program Expansion

To date, our Imagination Library program has given 119,808 books to children and families across PEI.

With increased support from the Province of PEI and Rotary Clubs, this program will continue until March 2026 and aims to have 5000 children registered by 2025. 

We have also partnered with Health PEI and Public Library Services. We will join their existing Born to Read program, offering a new book and Imagination Library registration to parents at their child's 2-month immunization appointment.

Bursaries 2024

Having a GED or High School Diploma is a must in today's world but, the costs of returning to school can be very challenging for many adults.

This year, we provided $750 bursaries to five adults who have returned to school to get their GED.
